Whats that sound
Hi
Have just removed pre cat and declogged backbox.
i started it to make sure it was ok about a week ago.
just gone to move it and as soon as i open the door a high pitched sound is coming from under the dash. its continuous even when started. only stops about 20 seconds after being locked. even starts if u try and pull door handle when locked.
any ideas??
BTW its a 1992 JDM R1

the car is not turned on. even when you open door it starts. doesnt stop when car is running, only stops when you close door for 20 seconds with no keys in ignition. also heat light is on where i think the engine check light should be. stays on all the time the key is on.

Heat light? The exhaust overheat light?
I believe the exhaust overheat warning system will sound an audible alert, at least on our USDM cars, when the temp sensor gets hot enough. Does this happen when the car is cold? The exhaust work you did may be causing an overheat condition.

iv cured the heat light coming one. it was the sensor on the cat broken. but i still get this buzzing sound. i dont think it is an engine problem otherwise why would it sound when i open door and not stop till door is shut for 10 seconds without keys in ignition?????
i carnt drive it till i find out what it is. Its not the same sound as the one you get when you leave the lights on. this one is non stop

Err... sounds like it could be some trouble with your "CPU2" which takes care of the alarm functions and lighting the key holes when you lift the door handle. On USDM it's on the driver's side kick panel (on a LHD car). As a starting point, you could take that panel off and unplug that ECU to see if the sound goes away... but that may cause the starter cut relay to activate.
