What is the difference in these two Power FCs?

While searching for the correct PowerFC for my car, I found the FD3S 4 is for cars built between Dec 95 and Dec 98. For the cars built from Dec 91 to Nov 95, there is the FD3S 3. Looks like the last 95s built for the US have an upgraded ECU. Does anyone know the difference? Thanks, Rick

AFAIK, the Ver. 3 is the model that all US spec RX-7s use. Version 4 is for JDM models.

The JDM model cars (96 and up) use a 16 bit ecu. Ours use 8 bit.

As stated above, you won't find a US-market FD with a build date as late as 12/1995.

From what I've heard, the Apex'i PFC will be the same hardware, but with a different pinout to match the different wiring on the RX-7's equipped with the 16-bit ECU. You might want to check this with Apex'i.

My build date is Dec 95 and it is a US model. It's #410 out of however many were made in 95. That's what made me curious. And I did send a message to jappartsspecialist to find out. But I think I'll will check with Apexi too. Thanks

The easiest way to check is to look at your pinout on your ECU. If it matches the picture I've attached, it's a 93-95 Version 3 ECU. If for some strange reason it's different, then it's the Ver. 4 model.
