Seems pretty normal to me. When you shut your car off the residual heat in the motor is going to cause the coolant to heat up to a higher temperature than it was right before you shut the car off. Since there's no coolant flow or air passing through the radiator this increase in coolant temp is going to cause an increase in pressure. The AST is where excess pressure is bled off to the overflow tank. You're probably just hearing that going on. Once the water cools down, it'll contract causing a vacuum to form. At this point the vaccum should cause the coolant that was pushed into the overflow tank to get pulled back into the system. If your overflow bottle isn't up to the right level it may be sucking a bit of air back into the system. If your coolant low buzzer isn't coming on I wouldn't worry about it, just make sure your levels are good.

Seriously, just look at this thread. If more people used these threads so many people would be highly knowledgable when it comes to FD3S's it would be ridiculous, myself included.

For all your stock parts contact Ray Crowe of Malloy Mazda at hmkparts@aol.com or his phone (which is the best method to reach him) at 1-888-533-3400. Morning calling is the easiest way to get through to him.
And luck you he is having a special for all the coolant hoses at 160$!!! Mention that to him it is a good deal. If I were you I would also change all the clamps at the same time I change the hoses
