Waiting on my 1992 JDM FD! June 6th!

Im buzzing with excitement right now, my FD should be in BC June 6th, i can go and test drive it and all that good stuff on June 10th, and then im going to take it on a 1800 km Trip from Campbell River to edmonton, then to calgary! Thats if its all good to drive on a long trip which i think it will be. Im uber excited, i have a 1982 GSL at home, i bought that when i couldnt afford a FD. But now im trying to sell that, because i got me a FD! Im in love with these cars and i cant wait to drive one, and make sure its all kept up in good shape, so it can spin some heads!

Heres the car, only have limited pics, because its Being shipped ATM.

-56,000 kms, 3 inch Exhaust, Alloy Wheels, Adjustable Suspension, Wing spoiler, LSD Rear end, Turbo Timer, CD Player,Tower Bar.

SO not too many mods, Id like sock, but for the price, and the low KM i dont think i could go wrong!!!

So i should beable to make the Calgary BBQ meet also! so im stoked to meet all you Rotar Heads out there!

-Mark

Very nice! Does it have HID's in the stock flip ups? I see that PIAA box by the intake, but I was just wondering what that was?

thanks,

Im not sure what that is exacly recon fd, i know it has a KNN filter system, or just Filters. And the dealer did say, he has a extra shift **** for me for the way back home . haha.

Cant wait, im going to count the sleeps till i can go see it.!!

recon fd was talking about the headlights. He wants to know if it has HID headlights. aka; High Intensity Discharge. HID lamps do not use a filament, instead the light is generated by an electrical arc inside of the capsule. In order to generate the arc, a high energy pulse is produced from the electronic ballast (which is pictured mounted by the intake on the RX-7), this high energy pulse produces an electrical arc across the electrodes in the capsule and generates light.

You generally see these style headlights on new BMW's as well as other newer cars like the Honda S2000.

Maybe that will help

Minus the intake, the engine bay looks stock to me.

I think the PIAA thing might actually be a horn instead of a ballast. And those filters look like the tops have the lids that drop down inside, so that rules out K&N, so it's probably Apex'i. The stock AST is not green, which is a good sign, plus you get an R1 strut bar, which is a nice bonus. Looks like the UIM and TB are going to need to be cleaned though, I think I spot a little bit of oxidation. Other than that, she looks to be in pretty good shape. Hope she runs just as well.

Thanks again guys for the comments, and also to Merlin and Rotarymandan for the "Diagnostic." With 56 000 KM, if it was kept up, oil changed, etc, i should get i hope 100k or better with the engine before a rebuild.

And JDB88 He imports and also can find cars fro you, i used tyeeimports.com.

There out of Campbell River, BC, Canada. He covers all the fees and everything to get it into canada, and does a OOP for BC. So far so good.

Nice find bro. make sure after you get that animal, you upgrade the radiator. The 91-92 Fd's came with an even worst cooling problem than the 93 models. The 93 models were redisned a bit , but obiously not good enough . Hope this info helps!

without doing extensive mods to it before you go on your long trip i would not risk it. did you buy it at auction? if so what auction grade is it, im guessing by your pics its an auction grade 0 and you got it very cheap.

as tempting as it is, dont drive it 1800ms straight off or you might regret it. a honda on 2 cylinders would do it fine but a 92 rx7 is pushing it.

why do you say so, it will be inspected, changed tranny, oil, coolant, and the brakes will be re-done if needed. And a full inspection, if it passes all that, and/or whats needed is fixed, i don't see why not?

and its km too haha

be ready to replace all the line in the rats nest. you will def need to do that. I got a grade 4 car, with grade B interior (pretty much as mint as you can get), and it still needs stuff like that done to it. Watch for the interior too, as some of the other guys here can tell you, the plastic scratches easy (mine is a bit scratched). I have no idea how people scratch it, but who knows. Headlights will have to be done for it to be legal in canada, as well as daytime running lights. My side markers on the front bumper, and rear bumper, needed to be lit up at night as well, so light were added to that.

I just went through all this in BC when i imported my FD. New tires, headlights, daytime running lights, and the sidemarkers. I've heard that alberta is worst than BC for all that crap.. so good luck with it man.

So far i love my fd.. wouldn't give it up for any car right now.. it is a pig on gas.. get ready for that too.. lol 400-500 per tank or so.

Less than 10G's (Canadian, not that it matters anymore, the US dollar is squashed).

You can get them for as cheap as 5-6 Grand Cad.
