Throttle postion sensor problem or wiring

Well after installing a used but in better condition wiring onto my motor, due to the old harness having issues, I am having issues with the tps. The ecu is reading that the TPS is in full open range and full close narrow position. When I tried to make adjustments to the range on the tps through (damains faq), I recieved abnormal readings. Is there anyway to test if the tps went bad itself, or if it is a wiring problem? I'd like to start with the tps and try and eliminate it out of the equation before really breaking down the wiring. I broke down one of my old wiring harness to see exactly how the tps is wired in the harness and what I found out is that two wires run directly to the ecu itself, one wires into the alternator harness, and the other I believe branches into a power source, I have to double check that to make sure, though.
