thickness of your radiator

I purchased a radiator from coolrads on ebay. here is a link:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2455710280
I purchased this because the seller listed that it was 50 mm thick. I don't remember how thick the others are but I knew they are much thinner than 50mm. I got the thing today. It has many bent fins and is 30mm thick at the core. The tanks are 50mm thick which doesn't matter one bit. I was a bit pissed off. I was wondering if you guys knew the core thicknesses of the koyo, fluidyne, and the stock rad. Do the koyo and the fluidyne take their measurement at the rad core or at the tanks on the top and bottom? thanks

On the Fluidyne and Koyo, the end tanks aren't really that much thicker than the core.

In that link you posted, they clearly state that the core is 1-1/4" thick, which is pretty much 30mm. You didn't think you were getting Koyo/Fluidyne quality for 2/3 the price, did you?

I think my koyo radiator is a 52mm core. The core and the end tanks are basically the same thickness.

I read this "11/4 inches thick " as eleven divided by four inches thick. Thats 2-3/4 inches...I guess thats what I get for getting my bs in mathematics. I certainly would have coughed up the extra 60 bucks that I can get the koyo for.

anyway anyone know the thickness of the stock...I guess I'll keep the thing if it is still a decent upgrade over stock.

Are the endtanks aluminum? That's what matters. A little thicker can't hurt, but I know many FD's that run fine with stock rads... You just have to worry about the endtanks splitting. If it's an all aluminum rad, even the same size, it's still a good upgrade.

stock =1"
mazdacomp = 1-3/8" (but smaller face area, bad fan fit)
fluidyne 1-1/2"
koyo = 2"

they did make a general "twice as thick" comment, among other very general comments.

fix fins & should work fine if it fits, for all but hard core use. don't forget to seal sides like oem.

I wouldn't worry about it. IMO, It doesn't look like a bad deal. All aluminum construction, thicker than stock (although marginal).
