Stupid Airpump!!!

Stupid Airpump!!!
So I installed my Profec/Efini Y pipe this weekend as well as some other small ****.
Needless to say I had to remove the airpump to access everything easily.
Well I finished the install and start putting everything back together when I notice my harness to airpump connector is COMPLETELY shot.
Quick thinking, i decide to hardwire it in(since I probably do away with it soon anyway).
Get done hardwiring and start her up. Immediatley it sounds as though there is a rock tumbling around in the airpump.
I pull the AC fuse thinking this will kill the airpump. My idle gets erratic when I pull the fuse and the clanking sound remains.
Why would the pump still be spinning or making noise with the clutch disengaged? I guess it could be something in the pulley itself, but you think you'd be able to see it.
I'm at a loss and pretty pissed. I'm gonna get another pump I guess and do the hardwire BS all over again.
any ideas? .....besides ditching the pump(not yet)
thanks

The air pump can free-wheel the outer pulley, or the inner pulley kicks in when the magnetic clutch is engaged. Most likely something got stuck in the pulley or it ate part of a bearing internally.
Good thing is I've got a spare air pump . Give me a holler tonight.
I might have to hit the junkyard sometime to see if I can find an airpump connector on another Mazda harness. That connector takes a lot of heat abuse and can be a pain.
The car will idle funky with the stock ECU and no air pump. Been there, done that. That's normal.
