anyone have the rx7store.net dp? im going for the ss dp, just wanted to know if there are any fitament problems and how the install was. oh and if anyone has pics that would be cool.
also what gaskets do i need to order? on jasons site, i see a dp to midpipe/cat gasket, but do i need to replace the gasket from the header to the dp?
and if i break the studs, where would i get those from?

I bought one last spring and it didn't fit. The holes in the cat-side flange were the wrong spacing, and the flange was bent. Returned it and paid the difference for the Pettit DP. Jason seemed pretty accomodating on the phone, but 3 shipments (the first batch came in two ships due to backorder, third was the pettit) were all sent to the same wrong address and did not end up on my door. The first time I wasn't mad and I notified him immediately of the error but it still happened two more times.

i think i read a thread a while back about the rx7store dp not fitting, but jason said that the issue was being resolved. how long ago did you buy the rx7store dp?

Our downpipe is meant more for a midpipe and not the maincat. The place that makes these doesnt drill the holes large enough to accept the maincat studs. If you use a midpipe then there are no problems.
The difference between ours and pettits is they use a really large flange at the end of the downpipe to accomodate the maincat.

I've had problems with both the dp and mp from there. Both cases were several months apart and when I called to check up on their new resonated pipe at the end of the summer, the issue had not been resolved. The flange hole spacing was wrong- not wide enough for the main cat studs to fit through both holes. Their midpipes used the same flanges with the same bolt spacing as well. Whoever I talked to on the phone there checked the midpipes with different model downpipes and realized that it wasn't just a matter of just having a midpipe and not the main cat. The flanges that bolt together on the ends of their house brand downpipes and midpipes are compatible for each other, not for other brand parts. I do not know if they have resolved that problem yet. Its been a year since we emailed them with pictures about it.

I can say the problem has not been resolved. Our downpipe has worked with some different midpipes. I think it all depends on the brand. Our midpipe should work with the different brand downpipes. We have sold alot of those with no problems.

1) The holes were the same diameter as the precats. The spacing between the holes themselves was off, not the hole size or flange shape. Things should line up, that's the point of a bolt-on modification.

2) I think the assumption that it should be used with a midpipe is insulting. Most of your customers buying downpipes would not be adding it to a car with a midpipe installed, and are probably not installing them together. There is no logic in the idea that a a well-constructed midpipe would fit any differently than my cat. See the definition of a bolt-on above.

I hope your problems somehow got fixed. I know others have had success with it. My part clearly was not acceptable and I wrote it off as an isolated production quality problem. Sadly, this latest response has lowered my opinion of the issue and indicates a greater source of fault.

Dave send the pipe back to us and I will either refund you or send you a different brand.

I sell more downpipe/midpipe combos than the downpipe by themselves and have been letting customers know about the downpipe issue with the cat.

I have been trying to get the manufacturer of the pipe to change it but have been dragging their feet.

We did do a return/exchange for the Pettit model, as mentioned above.

I know how frustrating it is to deal with substandard supplied parts when you're under pressure to deliver. I suggest you create a go/no go gauge with a pair of dowels and a block to test all of your received downpipes. Or a block of metal with two tapped holes and a pair of studs. It shouldn't be hard to twist your suppliers' nuts with a simple acceptance test like that.
