Rich air fuel mixture--what area should I check?
Changed a new catalytic, new o2 sensor, no vacuum leak (maybe), deleted precat, new plug, new wire.
Engine runs very rich. Failed emissions big time.
Where shall I look? any other sensors I should look?
Is there any fuel air mixture adjustment I can do?
Black smoke...smelly.
Frustrated! any help?

Did you clean out the little black catch tank under the intake arm before going in? It usually has gas in it then purges it self into the intake when the rpms hit a certain point or under a certain load or something...a search should turn up a pretty recent thread on this.

Well, car runs constantly rich from idle to WOT.
No I did not clean the canister but I think that is a small
piece of the puzzle why my car is rich...very rich!
Yes I will clean that canister later but I need to fix the rich mixture.

Symptoms when it starts: popping exhaust, rough/unresponsive acceleration, jumping idle..up-down, up-down, up-down....

take out the air control valve (ACV) and test it. take out the 3 solenoids from the valve and make sure they work. this could cause you to run rich and fail the smog test....also test the 2 solenoids on the rack that control it.

First, what is the best way to quickly test the fuel regulator?
Second, where is the ACV located. You said check the solenoid...how do I check 'em?
I will attempt to do this thing if you can tell me the
how to check those question I asked.
Yes, I will check the water temp sensor. I will try to
take it out and put it in boiling water. What temp degree
it should work? also where is the water temp located?
Thanks people...really frustrated.

You really need to download the service manual -- www.iluvmyrx7.com It has the locations and testing methods for all the parts in question.
FPR: There is a vacuum line running from the intake manifold to the FPR. If the FPR is bad, it will be leaking fuel down the line. Clamp off the line -- if your idle immediately improves and smoothes out, then the FPR is bad.
