Question Reworking your harness

After eliminating your emissions and twins and blocking off everything possible has anyone dared cutting the cars harness to get rid of the unused plugs? Also is there such a object that would allow you to close off a nipple with a metal insert, maybe a screw, has anyone tried to tap a nipple befor

hmmm as far as a tap nipple?? I don't think I would try it.
I will be, however, cutting my harness up in areas that are not used. This would not be recommended with an oem ecu. As it will throw codes, if I am not mistaken.
You can purchase nipple caps from

well hope that helps

Yes, I cut all the unused plugs off my harness (actually, I did one step more than that, and removed the wires completely. But you can just snip off the connectors too). I have a PFC, and have eliminated all the emissions equipment and many other non-useful things. I've had no problems and have been running the car like this for a long time. Many people have done this too. I think ejmack has a write up on it, so you may want to search for that. What ECU do you have?

As far as the nipples go: I would recommend cutting off the nipple, and then drilling/tapping the remaining hole with an NPT tap. This way, if you ever change your mind and want the nipple again, you can just screw an NPT barb nipple in there. Another alternative is to get some high-quality rubber nipple caps (not the ones from the auto parts stores). Search for "silicone cap" on www.mcmaster.com. You'll find some good ones on there.

Yep, I've had numerous failures of the rubber vacuum caps from parts stores. They bake and crack with heat, and will eventually leak.

Most hard-core way to deal with vacuum nipples is to do what I did on my FC - cut the nipples off and have them welded shut. I've yet to try silicone vacuum nipples, so I don't know how they'll do with time and heat, but that sounds promising. Also, if you have 2 nipples close to each other you can loop a vacuum line from one to the other - that does the trick beautifully.

If you want to do it right, pull pins and take out the wires.
If you want to be lazy like me??? heat shrink protect the ends you cut
