Greddy Pulley Kit Installed - Now Running Slightly Warmer

Everyone,

Installed resonated MP about 4 months ago just before Steve Kan tuned the car. So, last week I decided to finally get the airpump out of my engine bay. Running fully modded with stock twins and stock ports at 10 psi max boost (summertime setting) and the radiator and condensor are fully sealed for maximum ducting and airflow.

Installed the Greddy aftermarket pulley kit (large WP and alternator pulleys/w shorter belt) and now the car seems to run about 1 to 2 degrees warmer on my Power FC reading than before when I ran stock pullies. Is this pretty typical? Since the Greddy waterpump pulley is larger than stock I understand that it slows down the pump, so would higher rpms help to increase waterpump flow and bring temps down? Just curious. I know the main reason for a pulley kit is to slow down the pump at higher RPMs for less pump cavitation, but are slightly higher water temps under normal driving conditions just something that I'm gonna have to learn to live with?

Just curious. BTW, I live in Phoenix AZ where daytime ambient temps this time of year are currently in the 105 to 108F range.

Thanks in advance for your observations!

The Greddy pullies are not just slowing down the pump at high rpms, they're doing it at all rpms, meaning that your water pump is not running at the designed rpm at cruising and low power speeds. It is a tradeoff you're going to have to live with.

Unfortunately Kento, that's what I thought. Thanks for your reply!

I noticed the same thing when I put mine on. It was right before we went to Sevenstock in '03. It made me very nervous the whole drive!

Things are going great down here. If I can finish my single turbo and oil leak project in time I will see you on the 27th of Oct. Wish me luck!

Thanks Kinetic. Hope you can make it up from San Diego to SS9 end of October. I followed your Vmount fabrication closely and would love to see it in person.

Fdeeznuts: Good luck getting her together. Hope to see you in late October for a Friday run into LA
