Damn, have people really fit 6x9's back there? If I recall correctly it seemed pretty tight for 6x9's when I put my 5x7's in...

My mechanic put in 6x9 with very large magnets, JL Audio brand .They are centered under the grills .This was not a bolt in, it took some time to do .

Your car didn't come with rear speakers? I've never heard of that before?? I'm not much into systems so I never really read threads about speakers though.

I believe some came with 5x7 and the Tourings & PEPs with 6x8, mine were 6x8.

Anyways I would assume the holes for speakers should be there so just grab the mounting hardware of a parts car.

I just got new Alpine 5x7s for the rear....... If you get good one that fit properly, it won't matter if you get the bigger 6x9s...... Don't cheap out on speakers...........

I'd argue that you don't even need speakers in the rear. Just get a high quality set of componets for the front and put a woofer in the hatch area.

I think Touring models with Bose tubes in the back didn't have rear, above the cargo speakers.. instead of the speaker grills, you will see useless pockets.. I guess I shouldn't say useless..

I have alpine type r components in the front and 2 alpine 12 subs in the rear, but I want some more clarity in the cabin.

Here is some info. http://www.maxcooper.com/rx7/how-to/...ers/index.html

I had run across a few similar threads about adding rear speakers to replace bose in the audio section, but can't find them right now.
