Rear Coolong Tube for quick disconnect

Is that tube screwed in or how is it fastened to the rear housing? Also is the quick disconnect really needed or can the hose just go over it?

Thanks
~Luke

86-94 Ford Aerostar used the same part. I buy them at a local parts store with parts labeled "Help" in little red packages. Use it.

What I want to know is why did they even put a quick disconnect there? It isnt like you can reach the thing easily enough that the quick disconnect makes it worthwhile. And it also isnt like I take it off that often anyways.

looks like the tube is pressed in.
I threw that quick connect in the trash when i took it off and the o-rings went flying everwhere. just put the hose over the tube with a hose clamp

For those who didnt quite get my poor job on explaining what i wanted to know the 1st time.

On the rear plate of my FD core there is a tube coming out of the driver side of the block. This is in the same location as the oil pressue unit and water temp i think. Radiator Fluid comes into this tube after running through the heater core. Before this tube was pretty solid, now it wiggles after hit it on accident. If i twist the tube it does become some what stable again but i'm just not sure of how well it will seal. What it all comes down too is, can this be replaced or what other methods are there for fixing this?

Thanks
~Luke

I "decided" I didn't need mine after my friend broke it into about 30 pieces while helping me R&R my motor. Call it a weight reduction upgrade.

Mine wiggles the same but it still seals no problem. I was somewhat amazed how much it moves yet doesnt leak. I wouldnt worry about it unless it starts to leak.

I just cut mine (quick release) off and put a normal hose clamp on. Mine failed about 1 mile from home, and you guess it the coolant lite came on. Not sure why there is even a quick release there but its just another piece of plastic to break when you least expect it.

Mine broke about a year ago...almost overheated the motor! The 9 year old plastic peice was so old and brittle...That at high RPM the motor jerk snapped it I guess. Anyway, I ended up replacing it with the OEM part. I sort of like the fact that I can diconnect it in a second when I want to drain the coolant in the engine block during a flush. The old one was a different story, it took a good half houtr to somehow take it off!

Cooling hose that runs across the back of the motor across the firewall... Runs under the ABS lines and connects to the block on the driver side..

I know the black plastic part is very loose even when on correctly but the tube it goes onto is loose also and thats the part that is worring me.

For those who still are lost i can post picture after work.

Thanks
