Problematic FD
Thanks to all of you who have helped in me getting my FD back in shape. Until next week when something else goes wrong. The only thing I have outstanding is to fix an oil leak, and replace some sparkplugs. I was planning on pressure washing the engine so I could find the leak easier. Is there anything I should be careful of before I spray the beast down?

Be careful around wires and try not to get them too wet. Simple Green also works well removing some of the gunk. Make sure to rinse all of it out though because it can be corrosive to some parts.

Hey' I didn't think of that I'll check that out. Although it did look like greasy dirt deposits or something. Any other suggestions?
Have stock plugs given anyone problems? Mine have. I checked through other forums but couldn't find any answers. I replaced them when I bought it a little over a month ago. Now at least one is miss-firing. It's probably just one since I'm not stalling or anything.

Not blaming, Sounds like it though. It's a faint flutter sound which has my rpm's slightly wavering when the car is idle. I had the same problem in a '95 Pathfinder, when I changed the plugs I fixed the problems. However I realize this car is completely different from anything I've worked on before. I've already tried my Alternator, and the volts are fine. My lights aren't dimming or anything, and just got a new battery. I'm having no electrical trouble, pretty sure that would rule out grounding problems. The "misfire" is fairly consistant and isn't getting worse which all but eliminates a belt slipping. The car dosn't die or anything, and I've still got alot of power at the wheels. I've heard bad things about upgrading spark plugs so I want to just replace with stock ones. O.K. there it is spelled out sorry about not addressing it earlier. It's probably pretty simple and I'm just overlooking it...

There are plenty of other areas that could affect your idle besides the charging system or the plugs. Do a search on idle problems (as well as checking sites like Ciriani's), and I'm sure you'll pull up a ton of threads with a myriad different causes.

What Kento is pointing out is that plugs are only one portion of the equation in the combustion process.
1. Ignition.
2. Fuel.
3. Air.
Pumping oil into your intake tract like a derrick will surely reduce the amount of successful combustions per cycle.
