Problem about C-West Front bumber?

Hi,
I took my C-west front bumber to body shop today, but it didn't fit with the stock 93 reinforcement bar? What should I do? take out the reinforcement bar or modify it? Please give me some suggestion.

Thanks!!

If you can get away with modifying.. obviously go that route because its kinda your actual bumper without if you get in a decent fenderbender you can get your frame messed up.. if you absolutly cant get it to fit take it out or get the 99spec reinforcments..

btw - this was a post for the interior/exterior forum for future reference. Search for some 99spec reinforcements or contact jtimports.com

Matt...do the 99 spec reinforcements fit the c west bumper?? i know they fit the 99 spec bumper, but i was under the impression that ppl w/ c west and other aftermarket bumpers just took off the stock reinforcement and left it at that... so i assumed the 99 spec reinforcement bar didn't fit...?

I dunno if you can modify it to fit...it keeps the c west bumper abour an entire inch or two away from the fender all around...plus I think you might have issues fitting the combo lights in as well...(i just had my c-west bumper put on)

while i know it doesn't sit well w/ you, dont lose too much sleep over the re-bar. Re-bars are made to absorb impacts upto 10-15 mph MAX. And I dunno bout you, but the likelihood of me gettin in an impact at that speed in my FD is HIGHLY unlikely. I'd figure it would prob be at 60mph+...in which case the re-bar would do absolutely nothing for me...

yea frame damage sux...but I think you gotta weigh your options here. spend a nice chunk of money, and end up in an accident the re-bar cant handle, and you lost... or dont spend the money and end up in a stupid 5 mph fender bender, and you lost... so it's a gamble both ways.

i figure you took it out FDnub?

from what i understand, the stock rebar is pressed along the front bumper correct?

if i modify it so that the lights DO fit, along with the rest of the c-west bumper, should that be enough? is 1-2 inches doesnt seem so bad

the stock bumper simply extends longer higher up...so the rebar fits perfectly... but the angle at which the c-west nose is up top interferes w/ the rebar bigtime...

i cant remember why, but i think if you cut it in half, it might work...but then you'd hafta fabricate/customize the support assays i guess you call them (basically where it attaches to). but in both cases there's no room for the combo lights if i remember correctly.

the 1-2 inches thing is a major deal. the rebar is basically 2 inches thick i believe lol (this is off memory so if im not exactly accurate..sorry). but it's basically a small peice of fiberglass w/ styrafoam in front of it. so you can't exactly shave it down... plus removing the styrafoam is counterproductive, since it grabs a lot of the impact anyways... basically the 1-2 inches are a major issue. you'll see what im talking about if you go back and line it up right and see just what kinda work you're lookin at...

as for what i did...trust me...you dont even wanna know...lol

Yes, I talked to my body shop. He said he can modify the rebar, but he don't know how's the fitting about the side of the bumber and the fender. It may take a lot of work. But, I don't want to take out the stock rebar. Right now, I have no idea what should I do? I feel sad!!
