Price check?

What would you guys put for a price on this rx7? New motor and turbos with less than 200 miles, paint is a 8/10, and interior is perfect. heres the link: 1994 Mazda RX-7 Twin Turbo // 5-Speed // New Engine // Enkei RPF1's

the pics aren't really good enough, but it is original fenders. i would say its a repaint. engine has been replaced. interior looks great. i'd bet they get asking price.

That looks like a dealer "retail" price to me. $20K seems way high for an FD with 117,000 miles.

And everything else is more than 20 years old, and has 117,000 miles on it.

Yeah ^ it seams like most rx7s now are either trashed or modded so hard that that nothing is original but the chassis anymore

Nice purchase. Seems very well sorted and just needs the usual reliability mods!

Wonder if that car was put back to stock before sale? It's interesting that the seatbelts don't go through the retainers on the stock seats.

Don't really think it matters, though, if things are in good shape.

If that car is worth $20K, that would mean mine is likely worth $25k. That seems pretty high. My car has 73K miles on it, and is in very good condition.

We're on an uptick right now. I'm not surprised at the selling price. I am actually quite happy about this uptick as it brings these cars back into the hands of those who will *likely* take care of them. The lower the price goes, the more they end up in the hands of the "drifter kids" and camber crowd and slowly get destroyed--which ironically raises our values lol.

I won't even bring the swap guys into this.

I'd say that's a close assessment. Probably around $22-23k for yours. White is desirable but it's not a r2 like the car in this thread.

White trumps everything even black r1 or r2 . White is truly the new black.

Your car is easily worth 25k because of the mods etc...... If mileage on the engine and turbos is low, pillows are good, AC is working, no leaks etc...etc...

PS just saw it's white on tan so probably equal to bb r1 or r2

Color comes down to personal preference, which determines the value on an individual basis. We have a 94 white/black base in the shop right now, I would not pay any more for it then the 94 MB/tan touring that is a few feet from it. We have had multiple customers in the shop drooling over the MB, which is bone stock 45k miles, that have not given the white car a second look. Most recently a SSM owner just could not get enough of the MB car.

We also currently have red, black & silver in the shop as I type this. The VR 20B gets a lot of attention for obvious reasons. In my experience silver gets a lot of praise.

The motor may be new, but the body, the subframes, PPF, bushings, shocks, and other parts are not. If its stock, then its going to feel a little loose. A little tired. The interior plastics look good and that's a huge plus, iof that's as nice in person as it seems to be. The seats look extremely good for their age, as does the carpeting you can see. Vintage Red and Black is about as good as it gets colorwise and the mirrors and wing have not turned pink, so its been kept in a garage. If it had one owner or one owner for a long time and most of the miles, this looks even better. However,m there's enough "product" on any piece they could put sponge or cloth to... I mean like Armor-All or whatever. The engine bay hoses are still wet with it.

As to price, they are going up. I tend to take the asking price and subtract for all the dings I can see. If its essentially a 1 owner car and there are lots of records and the motor is good, I might want to offer $18,000, but if I didn't have an FD and wanted a nice one, I'd realize that $20,000 is no longer a bad price for a nice, stock FD with 117,000 miles on it. I am a very strong believer in the long term value of stock FD's and so I am biased here. Fritz Flynn, Djseven, and a few others who actually buy and sell these regularly, will chime in. (If they don't you should pm them.)

Adam, while I noted the issue of the mileage and that the chassis and suspension may be tired, the car has been so nicely refurbished that I think it may be worth close to the asking price. There's that thread on prices these days and I've been looking at autotrader and ebay and there are just no Rx7's. Very few. And the one's I saw were not nice. I think there are fewer and fewer nice ones around.

I would not of bought this car because of the repaint and no mods (I only like bone stock FDs when the miles are LOW). IMO it's a 16k car max. BUT as mentioned they are not making any more and finding a good clean FD is extremely hard.

However I just bought a black touring 93 for 20k with 124k LOL

BUT original paint in good shape especially considering it's black, original owner and all the right mods (10k plus in mods) along with a fresh ported Engman built engine (new everything/5k plus build). Because of this I feel like I actually got a decent deal but only time will tell. There is no escaping mileage because everything wears out eventually.

Yep the young will move on and the old will either keep or buy what they once had and pamper it.

YEP I love MB when the paint is fresh or well cared for

The only reason I want a white base is because I haven't owned a white DD FD.

I've had plenty of white parts cars sitting around and they never did much for me. The only reason white is popular is because it's the new black (current public fave color) and because it is a rare FD color.

With that said you can bet the white FD would sell for more than the MB FD all things equal by at least 2k. HUGE demand for white FDs.

You may personally pay more for white, the next guy may hate white cars and only want a very clean MB/BB/VR car. Granted there are few white FDs, there are also few red interior cars, that does not make them more valuable. Fact is all the prices are on an upward trend, however as we all know Fall and Winter bring prices on sports cars down as the demand turns to trucks and 4wd vehicles. I have never purchased my sports cars in the Spring or my trucks in the Fall. Late October-Nov there will be FDs available from the people that need a DD winter vehicle, happens every year.

I completely disagree. White is absolutely more valuable.

Supply and demand is what makes a price go up or down on any given product. Less white cars and more white demand means white cars cost more PERIOD

MB and VR cars sell for less because there is less demand and more supply. It's just economics

Confucius say; don't buy a truck in the fall or a sports car in the spring.
