How much is this FD worth? And where I get it looked at?

I'm thinking about buying a '94 R2, 40K mi, with 3K on a dealer installed engine (still has warranty), how much is this car worth?

Also, the car is in Cincinnati, is there a good place I can get it looked at?

I think the warranty is only on the reman engine, from what i can remember, its a pretty short warranty, somethink like 1 year 12k.

Yeah, the warranty is only for the engine, about 9 months and 9K mi left.

I'm planning on getting an extended warranty though, I figure with an FD, I should come out ahead.

What's the price they are advertising? If it's rather low, then most likely something's up with them/the car that they aren't telling you. Does the extended warrantee cover anything else like clutch/tranny? U might need to replace/fix those soon
Just some food for thought before u commit

It was advertised for 23K, we have a tentative agreement for 19K.

He sent me pics and the car looks mint, all records, etc. It's mostly stock, just an M2 DP.

Thanks for the replies.

If you can get a compression test done (or if they have one, get the results), then you should be fine. $19-21k sounds like a good range.

Extended warranty? Most places won't offer warranties anymore for FD's (since they usually get stuck paying for a rebuild).

As far as the warranty on the reman engine, well, usually remans last longer than 1 year or 12k before they have problems (*IF* they have problems) so that's not a huge bonus to have....

The original engine blew at 37k miles? I'd get everything on that bad boy checked out...including the glove box light.

Does anyone know of a good place to get it looked at in the Cincinnati area? I don't really trust Mazda dealers with RX-7s anymore.

As for the extended warranty, I've got a quote from Auto Connection (rated A+) for 4/48K for $1486. The contract does mention rotaries specifically (will cover apex seals, etc), zero deductible. It's not a bumper to bumper though.
