Outside door handles

I get alot of calls for this part. Until I started having problems with mine I never took a close look at the mechanics of why they break. Mine was getting harder and harder to open from the outside until a few days ago I realized that on the next try it was going to break. I took the mechanism out and lubricated it and now it works like it was new. Just thought I would let you all know this. From the amount of calls get not many people lubricate them. And we dont sell them cheap.

Mine was like that too, but I didnt stop opening it

So what now. Someone said I can take off the inside doorpanel and look for a clip that came off.

Or do I just have to replaces the handle on the outside too? I took it off one day and couldn't figure out what was broken.

My handle just flaps up and down freely now.

That happened to me too but the plastic part on the back of the actual handle (the part you grab onto to open the door) broke. The handle just flipped up and down freely. I had to buy a whole new door handle assembly for about $120. I think thats a good deal, I got it from my buddy that works at a autobody shop, he sold it to me at cost (or thats what he claims).

Its not too bad... I later sold the broken door handle on ebay for over $60.00. AND YES I DID SAY IT WAS BROKEN ON THE AUCTION!!!

I did the same thing. Lithium grease in an aerosol can - just shoot the innards and shoot in the keyhole and it's great again. Stuff really penetrates.

i paid about 100usd per piece of that from an import guy here. But the price didnt matter, what matter was that it took me a month to get the part. That means i have to enter from the passenger seat, even when i wear short skirts....

Don't squird lithium grease in the keyhole. Use the graphite power in a little tube.

I JB Welded my handle back together twice...lasted about a year each time. The third time I gave up and bought a new one but I extended the original one's life by a couple years so it was worth it.

I'm no locksmith, but wouldn't the Li grease do better against water penetration?

It's amazing how many times I see posts like this. Passenger side doors rule! Cant wit till that breaks then I'll be pullin the ol' Beau Duke maneuver all the time. I'll have to name my car FD GENRAL LEE . Damn that wouldv'e been a cool screen name. Yeah my plastic broke to so now when I drive down the road it looks like a ghost is trying to open my door from the outside, and no matter how much I accelerate I can't get away ...aaaaahhhhhhh. Seriously, even tried self tapping screws but that just made more of the plastic desintigrate. Yeeeaaasss.
Why can't there be girls with fd's over here that have broken drivers side doors and an affinity for short skirts. Damn we never get the good fd stuff over here!

my mother was kind enough to pull my car into the garage today....She comes up to me and says," I think i broke your door handel." I ve spent about 3 hrs tryin to bend the metal to fit around the plastic door handle. From her pulling so hard it tore a chunk outta the plastic so i am going to have to order a new one! Thanks Mom!

..stupid *** problem to have. I would rather deal with an engine problem. It at least looks cooler. If a girl walks into your garage and your working on your engine, it looks good. If she walks into it and you working on you handle because you cant get in your car thats GAY. Plus now i have to enter the car from the passenger side and open the driverside door.

I will be posting a HOW-TO alarm and door popper install next week. I will include pictures and instructions.

I will also include the making of carbon fiber door handle covers to hide what you will no longer need.....

nah! I bought it from an import mod. car part shop, that i personally knows the owner. But before that i hafta run around the town for such part.

The suckiest thing is that, here in Thailand, Mazda didn't import the RX7, it was another dealer, that has no part supply service.

Mine actually snapped. So I was lucky enough to get Jasons passenger door handle from jt-imports.com off of his car because he had just swapped them for feed ones. Lucky for me because he only charged me $75 shipped.

I got them from either Malloy Mazda or Mazdaformance.com (Mazdaspeed of Houston). I can't remember which, but both places rock for new stock parts.

I had the same problem with both handles actually and a friend suggested I install door poppers. It was actually cheaper (I think around $120 a set from Summit). Haven't had a problem and it's been 3 years. Only thing is that after 3 years I'm starting to see some lines where I shaved the door handle, probably cause I forgot to use a sealant underneath the primer and paint. But that can be fixed later. Car looks pretty clean with no door handles on black and you don't have to mess with handles breaking again. I'd recommend it for almost anything except a track/race car.
