Opinions on 30k mile service...

Hi guys...
My baby is coming up on 30k original miles and I'd like opinions on what to do. So far, I've only added the stuff in my sig. The downpipe hasn't been coated yet, so it's not installed, but the PFC, cat-back, and k&n are installed, but that's not much. The car is my daily driver. I drive about 5 miles to work and back home again. Every once in a while we take it on 3 hour driving trips to Tombstone and spend the weekend there. I've had no problems with it at all so far. (knock on wood)

I need to get the PFC tuned, but I can't find anyone in AZ that knows how. I certainly don't.

But anyway, what do you think needs to be done to an almost stock car at 30k miles? Opinions welcome!!!

The issue has some to do with mileage, but also a lot related to age.

I would:
- change ALL coolant hoses
- change fuel filter
- drain / replace tranny and diff oil
- drain/replace coolant
- inspect the AST and radiator end tanks for any signs of weakening
- get the suspension checked out for worn bushings and pillowballs

Did your LIM gasket ever get R&R - my tore out around 32k with a Downpipe - vac lines and the new ground wire.

dang 30k miles and a daily driver! you should put the car behind glass.

I'd add a recommendation of having your fuel injectors cleaned and mapped, check your fuel hoses. replace the vacuum hoses with silicone or viton before they harden.

Congrats to you and Seppeku on having such low mileage FD's. That's awesome! Wish I could just even get my hands on one, let alone one with such low miles

Well, I bought it with only 24k miles on it in May of '06. I'm the third owner. The first owner was a collector and never drove the car, the second owner didn't know what he had, so he sold it. I got really lucky finding it and just at the right time I was looking for one.

These are all good ideas, thanks guys!!! Any others?

When I bought the car, I changed out the plugs and the wires with RB ones. I had the fuel filter changed out too when I was trying to get it through emissions testing when I brought it back from Indiana to Phoenix, so I know that's good.

What about the shocks/springs? How long do they last?
Brakes? Tires? My tires tread is ok, but I'm worried about the age. I think they're original that came on the car new.

Aside from what you already have done, I would just change the diff/tranny fluid and flush the coolant.

If you are just using stock brake pads, it might not be a bad idea to take this opportunity to upgrade to some better street pads as well as some SS brake lines. The springs and shocks are usually pretty good for a while. However, if you want to upgrade, Rishie has just posted some information on the RSR Down Springs:

Original tires? Wow. I think it's unlikely, but possible.

Definitely get new tires - if they are original they are probably dry rotted and cracked.

Look for a label on the sidewall of the tire, and there is actually a month/date of manufacture for the tire. If it's any older than 5 years I would replace it regardless of condition.

Thank man! All the pics you see on my web site are from the seller of the car. That's certainly not my house or my neighborhood in those pics.
I need to take some in Sedona or something like that to show off. But my car still looks like that except I got the windows tinted for the Valley of the Sun!!!
