no crank, no start

Im working on a 93 manual trans FD that won't crank. It runs great when pushed start. It is all stock, New motor, New battery clean grounds.

I checked the starter at an auto parts store, the clutch switch is bypassed, the starter cut relay works when the key is turned on and all seems good. The ignition switch has 12.2V and the 3rd terminal gets 12V when the key is rotated to start.

It doesn't crank, no signs of the stater engaging or clicking.

Thanks
Jeff

Starter checked good at the parts store. Is the small wire on the starter supposed to get 12V when the key is turned? I get Nada.

I just got a helper to turn the ignition switch while I checked it.

ya the 2 leads on the starter the large one is the constant 12v, the small one with a clip on connector is the trigger. it should get 12 volts when the key is turned to the start position

Start tracing back from the starter, if you're not getting power to the red and yellow wire at connector A2-01 then check the blue and yellow wire on A2-04. If thats not getting power check the blue and white wire on X-05. If that's not getting power check the black and wire going into the starter cut relay (A2-03). When you finally find 12v, you've found your problem. All the info you need is on Z-26 of the wiring diagram.

Ok. I guess I'm confused...

using Z-25 in the electrical manual I see the cut off switch. The B/L wire is switched by the coil to power the L/W wire. In my case when I turn the key the B/L wire gets 12v but L/W does not. Problem found I thought but I should be able to jump L/W and B/L and it should crank but it doesn't...

I unplugged X11 and jumped 12v to the B/R wire and it cranked. So the motor wiring is good. Swapped out the cut switch with a known good one with no change.

Sorry, you're right Z-25, I was on crack and looking at the AT portion. Go me. Sounds to me like theres something wrong with your starter interrupt relay. Confirm that you're getting continuity between the two NO (normally open) terminals when you apply power to the coil/common terminals.

Got it solved. It was the relay. What was screwing me up was when I jumped the relay it was still not starting. The problem was I jumped the wrong clutch switch. When I tried the known good relay it wouldn't start and that was getting me confused. When I figured out the wrong clutch switch was jumped I had it going in a minute. So all is well now.

Thanks for the help.
