Ok, so i just finished installing my apexi pfc and commander, and i started it up for the first time yesterday, and it started idling really high and hunting and stuff and eventually after about 30 minutes settled down like it is supposed to. Well so i got in a pressed on the gas, and the car wont rev past 3000 rpms, it is like it cuts out fuel or something, and when it gets to 3000 there is always a backfire. a really loud one! so, anybody have any idea as to the problem or what cause it to not be able to rev up at all
Doesnt that have to be tuned? thats the only thing I can think of that would be wrong. If everything was ok BEFORE you installed it, then the chances are that the apex pfc needs tuning, thats just my suggestion
Maybe, but i dont think so, the car had some issues, and the apexi comes with the proper fuel map based upon the mods already done to the car. But even with the base map, i think that it should run ok, i dug out my sheet that the dealership gave me, and they pulled these codes from the car before the apexi was installed and it was throwing these codes 1.) code 5 knock sensor, 2.) code 30 solenoid valve split air bypass, 3.) code 34solenoid valve idle speed control, and 4.) code 39 solenoid balve relief 2. Maybe some of the people with some expierence could chime in, what kind of problems would these codes cause, and also could any of these be what is causing the car to not rev. tia
ya, i cut out the right wires (fingers crossed) when i started the car, the pfc seemed to be working just fine, i was looking at some of the sensor stuff, and it all looked as though it was fine, but i dont really know
ok, i have been fumbling around in the manual a little, and the troubleshooting says that stumbling on accel, could be caused by the fuel pressure regulator, when i bought the apexi, i got it from rotary performance, and they told me that i needed to change the fuel pump in conjunction, because of the other mods that have been done to the car. so i put there nippon denso rp pump in, now what iam curious about, is do i need to change something with the fuel pressure regulator, or is the pump just a direct swap with no adjustment necesarry
oh also, i was thinking of something else, maybe you all could answer it, all of the little colored solenoids that are under the intake manifold on my car are unplugged and a jumper wire is run from post to post and then taped with electrical tape (so basically they are looped off and not plugged in) why would someone do this or what purpose does this serve. i tried to upload a pic, but i couldnt firgure out how to,
If everything was ok beforehand i doubt its the PFC. I would advise resetting the settings on the PFC and doing the idle learn process (was it done originally) as it states in the manual.

I would say watch the sensors on the commander when you first start the car and after it warms up, I had a bad coolant sensor that read fine when it was cold and the go to open after it heated up and it caused the car to do some funny things, but the PFC is a great troubleshooting tool if used correctly. Good luck
I would check the codes you had before the install, mainly the knock sensor. From my understanding if it is bad it will retard the timing, watch it on the pfc and see what it is doing.
I cant recall what the average readings I had, my car is being worked on right now so I can't check. Hopefully some one else will post theirs on here. One other thing I would do is take a look at the knock sensor and see if it is hollow, like the piezoelectric seeped out.
