New PFC commander mount

Thought I'd share here as well.. In case anyone is interested in a place to mount the commander where your eyes don't leave the road.. (Not like that applies with my gauges lol, hence the reason for the commander location) Don't have any pics of the bracket, but I will later on.. Camera died and I got fed up with it! Sorry for the quality.

Forgot to mention..

The cord is a CLOSE stretch so I'll be adding about a foot so I can tuck it away a little.. Just FYI for anyone who might try this.

That's where my TE WB display is. Good placement, though.

Looks nice!

After you get all the pics and are happy with it there, do a write-up and post it. That looks like a great place to mount it, but I would like to know how it works out for day-to-day driving.
Also let us know how you end up extending the wires.

Thanx, and good job!

How and where does it mount to?

#1 The big drawback I see in this is that the sunlight which fades the FC screen horribly will be beaming directly down on the unit. Making it very hard to see.

#2 Unless you get a much longer extension, you can't just 'unholster' it and hide it away under a floormat or seat.

Just my .02 cents.

Just to help you avoid spending money that you shouldn't... the commander doesn't use a 6-pin PS/2 connector. It uses a 5-pin mini-din, which you can buy on the web. You can make the 6-pin work, but you have to break off a pin and dremel a bit.

Cavell,

Good points. I started making a sun shield too.. But I think it angles enough (although you can't tell) where the sun won't be right on it.. We'll see..

The wire sits neatly all the way across to the shifter panel (enough for purpose anyway, maybe not show) and from there I'll just shove it in the glovebox.

Thanks for the reply!

i like your A/C panel. They look like 94 panels but i'm guessing it's custom since the lower DIN is now gone and there are some gauges in place. What did you use to get that 94 style texture finish? I'd really really like to know

this is jayspec7's setup. this is by far the best interor setup ive ever seen. the commander screen is on the steering column, and the controls have been molded into the center column next to the gear shifter.... awesome! wish i knew how he did that.

I think its not just the actual sun rays, but the heat seems to do it too. Mess up the LCD. As long as you can keep it cool, go for it. But even coming back from a restaurant witht he Commander on the floor face down sometimes it takes 30 minutes or so before I can read the screen.

It's not a matter of difficulty, but a matter of time and patience. Jay amazes me... Guy has no time and STILL pulls this crap off! Yes, best interior BY FAR.
