Just wanted to say hello. I have been trolling the forums for a while and decided to register and say hello.
My name is Cameron and I live in the North West suburbs of Chicago.
I am amazed at the wealth of information available on this site. Thank god because this is the first rotary I have owned. I have been working on cars for 20+ years and have been seriously into turbocharged imports for about 5 years. I have owned a 93 VR-4 and a 92 Laser Turbo most recently. Both were 12 second cars.
I have been in love with the design of the 3rd gens and got an opportunity to buy one (blown motor) for pennies, so I jumped all over it.
It’s amazing to me how the rotaries are so different from piston motors… This will take some getting used to.
Anyway, just wanted to say hello and that I look forward to picking your brains for knowledge. It looks like most of my questions have already been asked and answered but I’m sure I’ll have plenty to ask anyway.
And be prepared to spend lots of money Just remember to read through the newbie's thread FAQ for 3rd Gen & other useful links or you will get your head chopped off Keep us up to date on the progress of your engine rebuild

I lived in Schaumburg from 1996-2000. Welcome to the club. I can't imagine having an FD up north during the snowy months. I think it would drive me crazy having to leave it in the garage for 4 months out of the year!

Just a joke. I guess I thought you were invovled iin the thread with the guy who insists his 93 is more properly called a 92.
Thanks for the warm welcome. She is a gorgeous car. It’s a 94, and esthetically in beautiful condition. She is as black as black can be. The original owner was my brother-in-law. He owns his own auto shop and as a hobby builds race cars. I have driven in this car numerous times and it’s definitely a rocket. He was cursing with it a while back and when he pushed it, something went wrong and you know how rotaries don’t like detonation… The interior is beautiful. After market gauges are installed very professionally and there are little bits of custom work here and there.
In any event, I don’t know all the mods that have been done to the car but will get a list and post it. It’s not a 10 second car but it’s quick. Probably mid 12s. Well, it doesn’t do anything now
I am picking it up from his garage in a few days. I need to clear out a car from my garage first. As soon as I get it I will take a ton of digitals and post them.
I’m looking forward to pulling the motor and rebuilding it. It’s the best way to learn about these cars.
Actually, from your posts, it looks like you actually do "give a f***" despite your screen name...

That was my 5th choice for a screen name. By that time I could only think of an old Army acronym… The answer to the question DILLIGAF is Yes. Yes I do.
