I would say that if you can afford a couple thousand more up front you may want to find a nicer car. If you fix everything that you say needs work you would easily spend more than that.

You need to have the engine compression tested. Why did the car not run for a year? Did you get to actually drive it around? If so, what was the boost pattern? A healthy twin turbo setup will boost 10-8-10.

doesnt sound to bad if you paint it gets some seats.

but dont buy it unless you do a compression test or you may be forking out 3 to 5 gs for a motor.

$11,600 makes me wonder if the owner KNOWS something is up with it. I too am a little baffled on the "engine has not run for a year" statement.
All in all though....sounds like not too bad a deal, provided of course the engine passes a compression test with flying colors.

Good luck, I hope the purchase works out for you. We are here to help.

While I think you can find a better car, this one statement has me most worried.

I suggest you have it put on a frame measuring machine and make damn sure it's all exactly lined up perfectly. It doesn't take much of a hit on a corner to bend the frame a bit.

One more thing to consider, the car has been sitting for a year, the fuel will be less than acceptable for any kind of boosting, not to mention water eliminator added to the car and of course as soon as possible fresh fuel. Obviously you've already run it so it's too late to drain the old fuel and start fresh. I take it to a body shop and look it over and make sure the frame is true.

This guy has like 4 cars 2 bikes and he has money so what ever the car needed he put in.He said he dident drive it cus he doesent have time and has the other cars to drive, this was goin to be his project car, the guy is like 38 years old.I did drive it and i dont know alot about 10-8-10 but he also has these 2 sink like bolts that go to the turbos with hose and he said if u want more power and know what u doing u can open the first one for more presure to the first turbo or the second one for how quick u want t he 2nd turbo to kick and how hard.i think the psi was low like in the 7 on the boost gage he has the (sink like things all the way down) when i would drive stedy is that good?
The car drove preaty good thats my first time driving an rx7. There is maby like 5 rx7 upstate ny and i olny have seen 1. so i want to be the first one in albany.
away from that i only drove the car like 5 min on straight road with some curves

Do mazda dealers have the frame machine to check the frame?

so the compression test is the one i should really look for of its good u guys say,and the frame.

im just starting to learn about the raotary and turbos. the rx7 is a car that i always wanted so i dont care how long it takes to learn i will not stop. im goin to check the car on monday so ill let u guys know how it went.thanks for your help.

Ignore the old gas thing, keep boosting it and if the motor was good it won't be when you through "test" driving it. I'd pretty much bet you'll detonate it and hurt something. Any place with a frame machine can check the frame.

I'd never advise someone to buy a car with rebuilt stock turbos again, unless they plan on replacing them soon.

Don't EVER assume a seller is going to protect your interests. Ever. Any FD seller who is honest and knows the car won't be the slightest bit offended if you dont' take their word for anything. They'll find out that you're not stupid, actually.

if those 61,000 miles are original on the motor it might need a rebuild soon, if u ask me, for 11,600 u can get a car thats had a rebuild already, and for less, it'll just take a little longer, took me 3 months to get my rex.. but, she's a beauty, i payed 9,000 for mine, and had a rebuilt engine/tranny w/ only 2,000 miles put on em.. but, like these other guys are saying, for the money ur willing to spend, u can get a much cleaner one, one w/ good paint, ect. ect.. those mods arent to hard to do urself. good luck on the buy, and i definately recommend u do a compression test to see how good the motor still is, and how good the turbos run, b/c the turbos might need to be replaced as well..

Your car is the exception to the rule. It's next to impossible to find a clean FD with a new rebuilt engine and tranny with no problems for $9k.
