Wow, what a nice gift. how old are you anyway?.. I hope your dad knows this isn't like a honda Civic. you need a good job and a lot of self control for this car. you need to park it in the garage and read everything you can on this forum related care and maint. before you think of fixing it up as you state.

jesus thats awesome.
but really you have to read up on here a ton. im still a fd noob so im not even attemping to do any serious mods. just keep reading on here a ton. ive had mine for over 2 months and im still just reading what i can and if you really have trouble than just ask.
this car should not be taken lightly it will be fast so be careful. also be ready to spend some money.
also make sure you look into the realiability mods first thing. im still doing these because its very important to help keep your fd as healthy as possible

Very lucky.
Well my advise is as already said do your reading and most importantly locate a good specialist where you can go to anytime you have even the minimum of trouble and don't do anything yourself until you are and expert on rotary.
If a long learning curve but a very interesting one if you like to learn somthing new everyday.

Maybe he did something to **** his ole man off..... Seriously though you have a lot of research to do in order to drive this car safely and then, later be able to understand how to perfrom maintenance on it correctly.
Good luck

im with the "bought it on my own at 18" group and i just paid finished paying off the loan last month, but if its one thing ive learned its that these cars are the biggest love hate relationship you will ever get yourself into. you gotta be a mad man to own one of these cars, no joke

That's really scary.
Anyway, read the FAQ:

For more info on the wankel itself, try www.rotaryengineillustrated.com
