Question Need some help w/Idle

I have a wierd problem with my Idle. Whenever the car starts to get hot sitting in traffic etc.. the idle turns to crap and starts to shake etc.. the vacuum also starts gettin jumpy.

I get a code 16 and 38, which I cannot figure out how this would affect my idle. I have spoken with my mechanic also and he doesnt know off hand.

If I start driving on the highway and it cools down the engine light will go off and it wont studder or jump anymore. Its quite odd.

I also have an issue with a loud hissing sound coming through my vents when my car builds boost. It kind of sounds like its spooling through the vents. I get a correct boost pattern in 3rd, and my vacuum is at about 15-16 on a 12k mile reman (that has a big front seal leak )

Can anyone provide some info or help?
thanks alot
Mitch

Sounds like "hyperions" (see his post for today) problem. I would check your ground wires. There are three principal ground contacts you should check: one at the firewall behind the UIM toward the passenger side, one on the driver's side fender wall just below a black box for relays, and one down below on the driver's side of the engine just above the oil pan lip. Scuff the metal bare to improve the contact. FDs run weird when the contacts get corroded

Oh mighty RX7 forum gurus,

My 94 R2 has a problem. This problem occurs when the car is stopped and out of gear. As I rev the motor, the engine speed rises until it hits about 5500 RPM. Then, the engine hesitates, stuck at that RPM. As I apply additional throttle, the engine refuses to rev higher until a certain point (I'm still pressing the accelerator slowly more and more) when it breaks free and begins to rev up again to redline.

This problem is worse when the car is cold; the revs get to about 3000 before this hesitation starts. As the car warms up, the hesitation moves up the rev range.

When listening to the car, it sounds like the ignition is severely breaking up (B-R-R-R instead RRRRRR) and stumbling.

This problem has been around since I bought the car early last year. Since then, I have replaced:

* plugs
* wires
* leading coil

To no effect. I am still looking at the trailing coils and the ignighter, but I am not optimistic that this will fix the problem. If you have EVER experienced something like this and have some ideas for me, I would greatly appreciate it! Help!

Thanks for trying but his problem is nothing like mine. Hes not pulling codes and his problem doesn't have to do with a rough idle

Can anyone provide some insight? It's going to be getting hot out soon and I cannot have this happening every time I drive.

Thanks Mitch

That link doesn't help either. Thanks for trying

Come on guys someone has to have some kind of idea why code 38 would be triggering and making my idle and vacuum get all jumpy when the car starts getting hot.

I tried doing a search (been searching for a week) but you can search for 'code 38' etc...
