Need Project Vehicles For Book

Dear RX Aficionados,

My name is Mark Warner. I’m a full-time mechanical engineer and part-time writer of automotive non-fiction (e.g., Street Turbocharging; http://tinyurl.com/yx4kbc).

I have recently signed a contract with HP Books Publishing to write a “how-to” book for performance modifications for Mazda’s family of rotary engines. Besides all the usual porting, exhaust, rotor-specific topics in the book, I will also be including a number of project vehicles that illustrate a wide-range of rotary engines and applications. Specifically, I am searching for high-quality, photogenic, well-sorted examples of vehicles with the following types of engines:

1) mildly-built, naturally-aspirated 12a for street
2) race-built 12a, either naturally-aspirated or with forced induction
3) high performance, naturally-aspirated 13b for street
4) turbocharged 13b for street/strip
5) race-built 13b, naturally-aspirated (preferably peripheral port)
6) race-built 13b, turbocharged
7) naturally-aspirated 20b for street or race
8) turbocharged 20b for street or race
9) turbocharged RX-8/Renesis for street
10) supercharged RX-8/Renesis for street

I am also open to other possibilities and combinations, but the basic idea is to get a wide cross-section of engines and applications into this part of the book. If you're interested in offering up your car for one of these slots, please contact me at markhwarner@gmail.com.

If your car and project match what I’m looking for, you would then have to fill out a detailed questionnaire/form about the car (e.g., specifications, project goals, driving impressions, etc). There would then likely be an exchange of clarification emails between us that would follow. I would also need a number of high-quality photographs supplied (300 dpi, 5x7-inches minimum). These photos would be of the vehicle itself, and, in particular, the engine and its components. Under-car shots, close-ups, photos of the engine being built, time slips, etc are all desired. Oh, and a dyno sheet with air-fuel chart would be required.

Finally, I would ask you to proofread the ~2-4 pages in the book that pertain to the car after I put it all together. The time scale for providing all this is the next 3-6 months, with the book hitting the shelves roughly 18 months from now.

Again, please contact me if you’re interested. A short email with the particulars about your car and its engine, along with a photo or two, would be most useful.
Thanks for your time...
Cheers,
Mark
