Model designators?
I saw this in a previous post and tried searching but the designators are to small to complete a search. What do the different ones mean and how can you tell which a partiular vehicle is? Mainly I guess I just dont know what an M5 and A4 is? To me Im thinking BMW and Audi.
Base, M5 - 2,789 lbs.
R1/R2, M5 - 2,800 lbs.
Base, A4 - 2,857 lbs.
Touring, M5 - 2,862 lbs.
Touring, A4 - 2,923 lbs.

As Androidmj pointed out, it refers to the transmission, and it's fairly standard industry "shorthand" for listing the type of transmission and number of gears.
M6 - 6-speed manual (Corvette, for example)
A5 - 5-speed automatic (Mercedes, for example)
etc.
