ive been told that in order to have an rx7 daily driver, you have to drive her "like a race car". is this true? i would have to drive her at high rpms all the time? the rotary specialist at mazda in san luis obispo told me this. he said that if i dont, i will have constant problems with the car. is this true? can i have my baby as a daily driver? and can i drive normal? a lot of you guys drive yours as daily drivers right? what is your guys' opinion?

That is untrue. There are FDs driven by old people who hardly if ever push it, and they have less reliability issues than most. Getting hard on the throttle every now and then (once every hundred miles, perhaps) should be plenty to keep the carbon out of it.
The only thing really important is to keep up with all regular and preventive maintenance, investigate and diagnose any problems immediately, and to drive it (at least) every couple of months.
The only thing I would worry about is keeping the engine cool in heavy traffic. Make sure you do all the reliablity mods and get another temp gauge, the stock temp gauge is crap. Oh yeah, for some reason(at least in my case) alot of people in bigger cars don't see FD's well, so just keep an extra careful eye out on the road.
yeah. i had problems with my temp gauge also. thats why my FD is MIA right now. i was just cruisin doing ma ****, parked, and no problems once so ever. when i got back in the car and started her up, all of a sudden my temp shot up out of nowhere
well using common sense, yeah, thats what i would have thought. but im pretty new to the rotary scene. so asking a "specialist", i took his word for it

I don't blame you. If I didn't already have some mechanical knowledge, I would have believed him too. Don't take the ribbing too hard, we all like to joke on the noobs a bit.
I drove my FD in -20 degree Celcius weather (that's -4 degrees farenheit).
Snow on the ground, and I don't think I got over 2000RPM's once. SEE, there's a good place to have an Auto. (Drive with Hold, and it's super easy to handle on ice!)
by the way, do you know the cheapest place i could get a new block, or already rebuilt block? hopefully with rebuilt turbos... cuz i dont really know what condition mine are in. i just want my baby on the road again, you know what i mean!
