how to test the speed(ometer?) sensor and odometer fraud issues

My speedometer, odometer, and tripmeter have all stopped working. i have heard that it might be a problem with the speed sensor and I should check that. First of all, where exactly is this sensor and second of all, how do I test it? What would be wrong with it? I have heard that the fsm tells you how to do it but I could not find the section in the 93 fsm at www.iluvmyrx7.com. The odometer and tripmeter are lit up but do not change. Has anyone else had this problem?

The second part of my question is are there safeguards or anything if you work with the odometer or the speed sensor? I don't want to be acused of odometer rollback if I ever sell the car down the line. Do I need to worry about this?
Thanks!

Well technically you'll have to disclose the vehicle mileage is not the actual mileage since you've driven the car without it working.

Otherwise the speedo sensor is on the side of the tranny towards the back of it. It is a cylindrical shaped thing that sticks to the side of the car.

Crispy posted the same problem about 3 weeks ago. You may want to PM him and see what he found out. Tom

Check your fuse...mine quit on me once. It was a cascading problem...first that, then all my gauges. Damn fuses...

Do you know off the top of your head which fuse it is? I am sure I can figure it out, but if you know where it was located it might save me a couple minutes. Thanks again

Also, I very recently blew and replaced the main fuse. Could theis fuse have gotten partially blown as well and just gone all the way now? Might be completely unrelated.
