How much work and money is involved to get a T-78 TURBO IN?

Down the road I will diffinently being looking into a Big turbo, I was wondering what the biggest turbo you can put into the third gen? and how much work is involved to install it? Lets take the T-78 turbo what exactly has to be done to get it in their? is it just straight bolt on? or do you have to fabricate an exhaust manifold for it? I know you will need an aftermarket ecu but could i get away with the stock fuel rail system for the time being and injectors if i run 14 pounds on the T-78? I know you can go 14 pounds with stock turbos but why not go to a huge turbo where you can go from an boost you want with out it being hard on the turbo? like the T-78. So tell me what is the total cost of getting the T-78 into my car

Lets see,
$3500 turbo kit
$1000+ for EMS
$500+ for MP and CB
$500 for boring out injectors
$1000+ for IC

I'd say that's the bare minimum off the top of my head. There's a lot more to add if you want to do it right, IMO. Search the forum. This question has been asked many times already.

your downpipe will be no good when you upgrade your turbo, and if you consider the $200 you spent on it "out of the way" and of much significance at all, i dont think a turbo upgrade is right for you.

you will NEED bigger injectors because of how much air you will be pushing through the engine.

in your case, i think it would be wise to source out a good shop to do the job for you, and you will need to have about $6000 saved up to hand over to them.

are you sure the stock turbos are not enough for you at the stage you are at now?

The T78 kit is a direct bolt on and comes with it's own dp and manifold. You will need at least 1300cc secondaries(anything larger will require a new fuel rail) to run 14 psi on the T78 because the cfm(more air and oxygen molecules) is greater compared to the stock twin so you will need more fuel. It's just as like running a little richer for colder air because of increase oxygen molecules. I'll agree with Neevosh on the cost and that's if you're doing the work yourself.

If you plan on running only 14 psi of boost, there is no reason to run a turbo as large as ther t78. They don't get into their "sweet spot" until around 25 psi...

Look into a garret gt3540 kit from a-spec tuning (they're the official importer), it's much better suited to the street and pump gas.

Check out the single turbo forum, there's a wealth of information to be had about every type of single you can think of :
