How much wheel horsepower can an FD auto hold?

How much rear wheel horsepower can an automatic transmission in a 1993 FD hold?

From the Horses Mouth

Hey Bro, last year spoke with the one and all Steve Kan on the phone and I believe that he said 365-85** Rwhp. I took all of his suggestions to reach that number with my setup (95 Auto original owner) and I push right around that. Now that's with a Sh-t load of Mods.
You wanna get there with your auto you better dig dig and dig in your pockets or you could do a swap for additional 2600.00 and start working HP number from there with your mauel setup.
I say do the swap out or go the $$$$ route which I wound up doing by picking up a few months back a 93 (m) to finally get true meaning from the car.

The money part is right. the stock tranny is good for about 300 hp, after that look at upgrading the torque converter and the like for a reliable grab every time. I had mine custom built but it should be good for about 450. close to 3 grand just on that single mod( I also had a shift kit put in, electronics, gears, etc.). but anyway, don't let that discourage you b/c auto or not it still pulls hard all the way to redline. There's also plenty of single turbo auto's out there, including mine that are still fun as **** to drive. Even if you had a manual transmission, most of the syncro's have to be replaced if you do a considerable amount of upgrades and shift it hard.

I would say 325 to 350 hp max. and thats if your trans is in to shape. keep it at 300 hp and put the 4.33 gears in the rear end. its the best mod you can do to the autos.
