Question new clutch/flywheel...now very hard to drive?

i just had a new bonez street/strip clutch and and act streetlight flywheel installed at a rotary shop...

now it is very hard to take off from a stop, i have drove a lot of racing clutches with lightweight flywheels in other cars but i can not figure out this one from a stop. ive been assured that it was installed correctly and it just takes getting use to mostly the new flywheel. i dont know if maybe the counterweight could be put on incorrectly? i just want to make sure im not going to damage anything by driving it.

has anyone else had this clutch/flywheel or any opinions on how to work this new setup?
sorry i tried searching without luck

Harder as in your stalling it? That's normal, you'll get the hang of it

i have stalled it a couple times but its the mechanical "clanking" coming from transmission that worries me. but, i highly doubt that a rotary shop would screw up putting in a new clutch/flywheel.

my biggest question is there only one way to install the counterweight?

Take it back to the shop that did the work. If they are reputable, they will fix the problem (if there is one). It shouldn't be clanging.

My clutch chatters from a stopped start, more so after my light weight fly wheel was installed. I have an act unsprung 6 puck with a jun chrome molly 9lb fly wheel. I would say it's normal if Im thinking of the right sound you are hearing.

I'm using a Spec 6 puck clutch and ACT flywheel.
Only had a hard time the 1st few miles... during "break-in". Clutch engagement point kept changing and stuff.
Shortly after I had no problems. It's not stock-like, but every1 should be able to get it right in no time...

Also, never had any "clanking". clanking usually bad...

On my Zetec-powered Formula Continental with a lightweight flywheel, Quarter Master 7.25" single-plate racing clutch, and sintered metal disk, chattering on startup from a dead stop is VERY hard to avoid.

Whether it occurs on a particular installation depends on driveline natural frequencies, torsional stiffness, clutch friction characteristics, play in the driveline, and what RPM is needed to start up w/o stalling. Low engine RPM's on startup tend to reduce the tendency to chatter, but may not be practical (stalling).

So, while it is certainly not desireable, it MAY be the norm for that setup.

Are you sure your diff bushings arent shot. My personal fd has a excedy clutch and 9.5lb flywheel and it "clanks" like a S.O.B on take off sometimes. It was also first at initial install. Lightweight flywheels are just a pain period and I have no clue why I installed the one in my car, it was just laying around and I apparantly thought "this would make driving the car a pain in the *** I guess I should install it"

I meant to say it was worse on initial install and also letting you know my diff bushings are shot and it makes all types of horrible clanking, chatter on take off.

i have drove it a lot more yesterday and today, and its getting easier.
what im describing is most likely just the chatter from taking off, the hard thing is just finding the right rpm and the right amount of clutch slippage for a smoother take off.
after the all the driving i am pretty sure that everything is installed correctly, it just takes ALOT of getting used to after the stock setup.

Are you making sure to break in your new clutch properly?

It sounds like to me common light flywheel and better grabbing clutch. This is one of the reason some stick with stock flywheel because it gives better inertia.

regarding counter weight.. If the counter weight is off, you'll know when you just rev your engine in neutral.
