honest answers from the anti-piston guys and gals.

I am in the process of realistically purchasing a 3rd gen rx-7. I am a bit sceptic on purchasing one just because of reliability issue's or rumours. I love the import market and owned popular powerplants in the past such as the B16a2, B18c5, SR20DET in a S14 kouki, i also currently own a MR2 Turbo. ok ok enough about myself... I can realistically purchase an FD no problem, but i'm a 22 year old college student that frequently goes to the track. I've heard amazing stories of how great of a drift/drag and circuit car an rx-7 is. Thats exactly what i want an all around great car i would like to achieve a 340whp realiable rx-7. I would just like to know if that is attainable without mortgaging my education/life and is it really that expensive to maintain an rx-7?

Thanks guys any input would be greatly appreciated!

rx7 are not known for their reliabilities but you can put mods on them (downpipe, changing hoses) to make them more reliabile, check the faqs (first couple threads) it has an entire list

This question is asked enough that we'd be flooded with them if I weren't closing them.

Please read the FAQ, https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/faq-3rd-gen-other-useful-links-68640/

There is some discussion of the practicality and reliability of an FD there.

Then if that's not enough please use the search feature with keywords like 'reliability' 'daily driver' 'cost' 'maintenance', etc.
