High elevation really **** up your boost?

This is kinda funny went to reno and on the way there after climbing the mountain for along time my water temp reached 95, which it never does. I felt this was normal but just for kicks and giggles I pulled over to make sure my radiator fans were still working (long story) anyway...my car started idling really weird. It was exactly like what happens when the power FC is learning your car and the idle fluctuations from like 200 to 1000 consistently. I turned the car off and started it 5 mintues later and the idle went back to normal, but my power FC vacuum read ings were way off. It showed -650 or so at 850 idle. I am always around 480. The odd thing is my boost gauge showed the correct readings.

Ok, so I drive off and hit boost. My boost gauge registers the normal 12-13 lbs of boost and I feel the power comming on. when I look at my power FC it shows .60 peak boost.

the entire time in reno it showed around 680 at idle and maxed around .60 on my gauge.

The funnything on my way back as soon as I hit sacramento my readings became back to normal.

WTF?

Is it the boost sensor that cant read boost at certain elevations? Why does my boost gauge show correct?

I thought it was a bit odd.

thanks

the only thing i could think of is that at high elevations the air is thinner. I dont know if that would have anything to do wiht it but it might. who knows...
