Headlight bulb replacement issues

OK... I know I'm a dumbass and belligerent for even posting this thread... BUT... Last night I replaced the H4 headlight bulbs. Everything fit fine, etc. Went to turn them on and the funniest thing happened. My regular driving beam is higher than my highbeams. When I switch the highbeams on... the angle of the light beam actually drops. Is it even possible to mount these bulbs upside down??? Or is it possible that there's a manufacturer defect? Or am I just an idiot. I've done a search on this forum, and apparently, I'm the only one who has run into this. Quite strange. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

What kind of bulb (brand) is it? My guess is that it's a cheapo bulb and the manufacturer got it wired backwards somehow, hehe?

The H4 has locating tabs, and it can only be plugged in one way, by design...
