Hallman boost controller not working
Hi all, this is my first time here. I bought this 3rd gen rx7 a few months ago and I have been having this weird problem with the Hallman boost controller. The boost goes up way too high ( up to more than 17 PSI ) if I press the throtle all the way.
So if I start unscrewing the locknut on the regulator, I can go little by little up to more than 6 full turns and the boost stays all the way up. And then after that, it goes suddenly all the way down to the stock 10 PSI. And then going up again is the same story, it doesnt regulate until it suddenly goes all the way up.
The previous owner tells me that the regulator is brand new (it looks like it too) and the hoses dont seem to be kinked. When I bought the car, the regulator was working fine at about 13 PSI.
Could it be a problem with the Wastegate?

Jesus, dude, you WANT to blow your motor up? Remove that thing pronto, run straight hoses to the wastegate, see what kind of boost you get. Start doing some research on how to plumb a boost controller in.

Boost Controller problem..
Hi, of course I am not boosting the car all the way. I am keeping from going over 10 PSI.
The boost controller was installed by a competent shop that changed the turbo setup from sequential to parallel, changed the exhaust to a complete 3" no Cats.
Also has an aftermarket intake and BOV.
The car was running fine when I got it. The Boost was at 13 PSI and stable but after a little while it started doing that weird thing.

Straight through 3"? Sounds like boost creep to me. No boost controller can control boost creep...this is a case of too much exhaust flow and too small of a stock wastegate. Either add some restriction back into your exhaust, or port your wastegate.

Ok, I agree that the boost is creeping but the fact that the car was running fine and regulating the boost perfectly when I got it and for about a month tells me that it may be something else. Also, if I turn the regulators **** all the way in, it makes the boost not to pass from 10 PSI meaning that is regulating at that point. The problem is that it goes OR all the way up OR all the way down but nothing in the middle.
A better list of the mods is:
Full Non-Sequential turbos (Parallel)
Ported exhaust manifold
Ported intake (slightly)
Ported turbo manifold
3" Downpipe
3" Resonated Mid-pipe
Apex Power FC Standalone fuel computer
Hallman Boost Controller
Greddy RS Blow off valve
Greddy intake pipes
Greddy Intercooler pipes
And by the way, I dont know if it helps any but I was reading another post relating to boost creep and I saw that the person was saying that he had to drive the car under 5500 or 6000 RPM to keep the boost from creeping.
In my case is not like that, it is enough to press the pedal all the way and reach maybe 4000 RPM and the boost can be all the way up. It is not related to RPM's but just by power demands of the engine. Of course in first or second gear it takes more RPM's to build up the boost and in fourth ot fifth it goes up earlier.
