Angry Got hit, Need help

Well unfortunately a guy pulled out in front of me today and we connected. right front is what hit and the bumper, fender, hood, headlight assm., etc are toast. the guy is going to pay for everything so im not too worried since the damage isnt too bad. it looks like i need to replace the frame piece that goes around the headlights and the rebar in the front and was wondering if any of you knew of a good place to get the parts and a shop here in socal that will give me a PROFESSIONAL appraisal. i remember seeing some guy on here that replaced these same pieces and it came out well. any input would be appreciated. thanks

why not just cut out that frame section around the light and just have him buy you a HID sleak like kit

Sorry to hear about this, accidents are always unpleasent to say the least. The hood is really expensive (~$800) from Mazda, and its aluminum so I few if any shops will work on it. I was hit in the snow, the guy put a dent in my hood punched a hole in the headlight cover. The total work for the two was estimated at about $1,500, including parts and labor. I suggest getting an aftermarket or used hood, and getting some used fenders. I don't know about the sub frame, and I don't know any shops down towards Chino or Riverside that do good work, so I'm afraid I can't help you out with those.

PART NUMBER 53-140B OR 54-140A depending on side. get it new from mazda its only like 70 bucks or so. im not a big fan of aftermarket frame/body parts. its called the shroud panel i know what your talking about. My FD has a brand new front end...core support, crosmember, sub frame, im pretty familiar with the front end body parts so let me know. i can try to help you out.

heres some pics of the damage:

well i think im goign to need a core support and the frame pieces that the fender mounts to as well, possibly a new rebar too. i figure ill just do the 99 spec conversion now while im here since it will come w/ the rebar. so if anyone here has a 99 spec laying around ill probably pick it up. i also figured that since my paint was looking real bad i would paint the whole car while im at it as well. now the question is....what color. thanks for the prt#s, if you could post some more pics of those pieces or the other prt#s i may need that would be great. thanks guys for helping a fellow fd stay on the road!

theres two parts with the same name---crosmember one is the bar that runs betewen your frame infornt of the motor and the other is the one that supports the front of your car. the part# for the front one is 53-162 I got mine from mazda for 190$ and the part that you refer to as holding your fender there are 2 pieces the one that holds your shock tower and is welded to your frame is the part# 53-210b or 53-210x then there is a part that comes off of that which is #53-285 or 54-285 which is spot welded to the headlight shroud (the part listed earlier) which then goes to your core support/ cross member for the front. ill post pics of both for you.

Doesn't really look that bad honestly.

Replace the standard body parts and match paint. I don't think there was any serious damage even done to the support metal underneath.

what you crazy? why in the hell you want to change the color of a silver FD? That's kinda a unique color. but I would go with a different type of silver like the one Mercedez have or like a darker silver (kinda like gun metal).

man he hit your silver FD. I would have came outta your car swingin. I would be pissed off. Get it appraised and have his insurance company give you the cash. Buy cheap parts online here and make money!
P.S. tell the insurance company that when he hit you he knocked off your single turbo, front mount, radiator, and flux capacitor!

i do want to change the color because im really sick of silver not to mention my paint was **** to begin w/ and it seems silver paint doesnt last as long as others. so do you guys know of a good shop that would be able to give me a good appraisal? i need to start figuring out prices for the damage. i think i can also fix the damage myself to cut down costs for other parts....99 spec or something!
