Street legal in California, wouldn't be much faster than stock. Catback, and intake would be about all you could do staying completely legal.

It would definitely have a 20B in it, like I'm doing this summer. Those things are 550 hp STOCK!

Around 40 thousand dollars for the complete swap. Maybe a little less or more.

And...a 20b in an RX-7 is not a "stock" car.

550 stock

Now, I might be wrong on this, but I was under the impression that no 20B powered cars (cosmo import exemptions excluded) were street legal as that engine was never sold over here, and thus has no EPA emmissions standards.

Anyone know what the legality of the 20B is, just for ***** and giggles?

I think Ari ran a 9.62 once. Check me on that though. Ari Yallon is the guy that drives the Rx-7.com car. It's a 13B. Peter Farrell made the first 20B, as far as I know, and it does something like 600hp (and a butt load of torque) at 15psi. But the 20B conversion doesn't come cheap.

Anyway, fastest can be two things: drag fast or track fast. Personally I care more about the track fast, but that's much harder to objectify. Those RX-7 race cars with the side pipes are too cool.

lastly, do you sell drugs or something?

Thats wrong. The 20B is 300hp stock.

In modified form. IE, installed in an FD RX-7 with aftermarket ECU, exhaust, intake, intercooler upgrades, single turbo etc etc, then 550hp is attainable.

I thought Kan was Bridgeported. If that's the case...that's not exactly "street legal"

Alrite...here comes a real newbie question...

Engine work like streetporting and brideporting isn't street legal? Does that apply to all 50 states? And can you tell an engine has been ported (externally... ie can Mr. Gas Station Inspector pop the hood and be like aahh..that's not street legal)?

I know an engine swap would obviously tip him off (if he had any idea what to look for under the hood of an FD to begin w/ haha)

What else can make your car not street legal (excluding CA, where driving is barely legal LOL)
I know takin off your cats is illegal here in VA...that's about all I know of though...

Taking emissions equipment off is illegal everywhere in the US as far as I know. The difference between states, is whether vehicles are checked for this equipment or not.
