Engine Dies Out....

Has anyone had a engine cut problem associated with the fans coming on even at a cold start up? When I first turn the ignition switch on, the fans come on high and the car won't start. After a couple of trys, the motor turns over and runs normally but will die out randomly as I drive it. The motor shuts off but the rest of the electronics in the car are still on. I have noticed that most of the time that this happens, it seems that the fans are running and I don't know if this is associated with my engine cut problem. I have checked the ground points in the front under the facia and they appear to be fine. I even ran additional ground wires directly to the battery ground point. I also swapped out my ECU for another and I still have the problem. I don't remember ever hearing the fans running when I first go to start the car cold. When the motor shuts off it takes a minuet to several minuets to get the car restarted and the motor starts right up with out hesitation. There is no check engine light after restart as well. I also put a new fuel pump in but that did not help. Any thoughts? I posted this question two days ago and went to check it tonight but I could not find the thread so if you responded to my first thread, my apologies. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.....

I haven't added anything reciently. I did rebulild the motor a year ago but this problem started happening about a month or so ago. The car is a 93 with 30K on it orig. The harness appeared to be in good shape when I did the motor work.

check your engine coolant temp sensor on the back of your water pump housing. If the sensor goes bad it will cause the fans to go on even when the car is cold. The sensor is buried so you will have to look around a bit behind the wp housing. One thing to do is to try to probe the voltage from the sensor at your ecu connector on the passinger kick panel to see if the reading matches what the factory service manual spec.

I've found my fans come on when the cold if I have the ac on, the fan in position 3 or 4. This is without starting it just turning the car on. With the key on if I shut the A/c off switch in pos 1 or 2 the fans go off if the ac was on and the switch was in pos. 3 or 4 then I also have to turn the fans to any position below 3 before the fans go off. Don't kno if this points you in the right direction for the fan thing. You may need to set your idle for electrical load/ no electrical load to solve your stalling issue.
