Engine Codes 42 and 43
Hi,
Would appreciate some advice on this one. I have a customers car who is currently throwing ecu codes 42 - turbo precontrol solenoid valve and 43 - wastegate control solenoid valve.
I have not driven the car recently but allegedly the car runs fine. I worked on it extensively ~1000 miles ago and the car ran great then.
At that time the following was done:
- New viton rubber hotes and check valves
- All solenoids checked hot and cold (mityvac test) - 2 were replaced.
- New fpd & fuel hoses
- Replacednumerous boost hoses, etc.
- Replaced leaking injector
The car has a racing beat intake, RB exhaust, and a dp. When I got it the boost pattern was awful and leaking fuel. Once all the work was done the car ran great but had signficant boost spike issues after transition (spikes to 14lbs). The owner is an older woman who babies it so I advised her she needed to solve the boost spike issue but she would likely be fine if she never ran the car close to full throttle.
I will be getting the car back soon and wanted to get folks thoughts on the likely cause before I get the car back and start troubleshooting.
For the record, she *might* be running on spring pressure as I may have disconnected the plugs to minimize the boost spike issues prior to her getting a proper boost controller.
