Infini means "infinite" in French, and the first RX-7 model to carry the name was the 2nd gen. "Infini IV", a hot-rodded 2nd gen. used to keep the American press satisfied while the FD was completed. The name was later shortened to "Efini", but the meaning is the same, hence the stylized infinity symbol (a "figure 8" on its side) in the rotor-shaped emblem...

In Japan, Efini was simply Mazda's sports division, sort of like AMG or BMW's M-cars. The 93-95 Efini RX-7 was identical to the US-spec cars (essentially).
All of this has been answered many times and a use of the search function would have prevented the creation of another worthless thread.

Im pretty sure Efini was the chain of dealerships in japan licensed to sell the FD3S. They were the only ones able to sell the 93-95 Rx7s. They were all badged by the dealers as Efini, not Mazda.

years ago, mazda loved sub-brands - infini, efini, autozam, eunos...
These days the ruling corporate method is closer branding across the range - which is extended to the point where you see similar designs throughout the range (similar front ends, basic styling, color ranges, etc)

I may have little patience for lazy or immature forum members, but I help people here everyday. If my "whining" annoys you, why don't YOU just move on.

" I answered the guy's question more thoroughly and correctly than anyone else, what more do you want?"
Nothing. That's the point. You answered it but couldn't stop there. You had to add a smarmy wisecrack about it being a worthless thread.

"Because it clogs up the forum and pushes useful posts off of the front page."
And you contributed to this yourself, again by NOT moving on.

Not personal, but I will correct myself. Perhaps a more accurate reason is that if you would have moved on, it would have prevented you from getting the recognition you think you deserve. Oh, and thanks for the forum diction lesson Paul Harvey.

This I have been doing. For a few months now. But your comment following an otherwise informative reply was just unnecessary. Who's immature?
My apologies to Brownrx for side-tracking the thread.

My original comment about the worthless thread was intended to make the thread starter think about using the search function next time, and not intended as a "smarmy wisecrack".
You should read through the read entitled "Why don't the good guys post", it may explain my general level of impatience. As I said above, I help people on this forum all of the time, in fact, I called a member I didn't even know the other night long distance on my dime to help him with some questions he had.
If you find my comments offensive, you can put me on your "ignore" list. Your comments could have also been sent to me in a PM rather than in the forum.

Sgtblue, while I totally understand your point, I gotta ask how long you've been on the forum, or how often you frequent it.
Why? Cuz this forum has a certain character to it. The "good guys" on this are few and far in between, especially given that we have 40 thousand members, but only a couple thousand RX7s. Needless to say, the result is a hoard of newbies (me included) jump onto the forum and post their questions without searching first. If they had searched, they'd find that their question has been answered a multitude of times before.
The result? The "good guys" who have lots of experience and who have been on the forum for a LONG time get really tired of seeing the same old questions pop up, over and over, and of course get tired of answering it over and over (and Rynberg is definetly one of those guys, both a good guy and been around a long time). That, and these simple questions that can be answered in mere seconds by searching DO knock off more important and previously unanswered questions on the page.
There are stickies that are directed toward newbies and searching, but hardly anyone pays attention to them. You'll get the same response from Rynberg as you will from the rest of the experts on this forum whenever questions like that pop up. And if you think that was bad...you obviously haven't seen when people REALLY get flamed...
Just a little prespective for ya
