Cool Do I need to regreased the shifter after replacing the shifter bushing ?

I've just replace my shifter bushing because the old one cracked to tiny pieces. When I remove my shifter I noticed there is grease on shifter ball. Should I regreased or spray some lithium grease into where the shifter sit before putting all the bolts and boot back together ?

I thought the shifter housing was supposed to be filled with gear oil. I have enough gear oil to mostly fill the shifter housing.

FWIW, I also took some 1000 grit wet sanding paper and cleaned up the ball on my shifter before re-installing it with new oil. I'm at work and don't have access to my FSM, but IIRC, it calls for grease at the ball and at the bottom bushing...in addition to the gear oil.

The service manual says fill the housing with oil to lube the lower part of the shifter and grease the larger pivot ball at the top. If you do this it really does make a big difference in shifter feel.

^Eh, splitting hairs, but actually on page J-62 of the FSM, it calls for greasing both...plus adding the gear oil. And turbojeff is right, doing this improved the smoothness of my OEM shifter noticably.
