did it blow
so im driving home from work last night and as soon as i dropped it down into third and i lost all power. engine is very shaky and vacuum needle bounces like crazy. seemed like turbos came with very light throttle. there was a fluttering sound and a burning smell. car would stall if rpms werent kept up above 2000. extremely hard to get restarted but i got it home and parked it for the night. map sensor hose is connected. i am going to look it over again. car is completely stock with 84,000. so did my engine blow or what?

think is the Throttle position sensor (TPS) out of adjustment, or sum vaccum hose pop loosen. check those first, then have urself or a a pro mech to have a comprssion test.

Sorry man, it sounds like it did blow. But as Roar suggested, the only way to know for sure is to get a compression test done, and then get out the credit card.

Let her idle and warm up, assuming she will stay running.
what vacuum are you pulling? Does the needle on your boost gauge oscillate at a constant rpm? Does the UIM shake violently? Does the exhaust note sound irregular?
