congratulate me the newbie!

this is stupid, but i wanted to post it anyways... sorry. i went out and spent 2 hours replacing my plugs and plug wires this morning and aside from difficulties removing the 1T plug from the ignition box, nothing bad happened... i even found the original radiator cap (a 1.3 bar) that had fallen down in front of the engine near the battery box. this wasn't my fault, it happened before i bought it.

long story short, new plugs, new wires, and a 1.3 bar (to replace the existing 1.2) radiator cap in just 2 hours. not too bad for the first thing i've really ever done by myself on a car

It is not necesssary to start a new thread because you have successfully replaced your spark plugs and wires.

Congrats.

pugg,

Good job. As you can see, working on the cars is not nearly as difficult as some people make it out to be.

But replace that cap with a .9 bar (13 psi). You do not want to be running 16 psi.

Yeah,...I remember my first Plug change. That was 9 month's ago. And now I'm doing my own Turbo rebuild. ....Dear Lord, what's gotten onto me. Congrats.

Support, I wouldn't make fun of people who take risks - even small ones. He's much better off than the people who come here and never take a risk or attempt to work on their own cars.

haha - Pugg - new plugs was the first thing I did on my car when I got it in October. Since then I have added a water temp gauge (i have an extra brand new one if you need it - autometer sport comp series), boost gauge, downpipe, and intake.

If you need any help working your car let me know - I'd love to help out... if there is beer of course... or if you are too young for that, food works too!

PM me sometime.

Steve

oh yeah - welcome and congrats on your first job!

Good job.

You did remember to put anti-seize on the plug threads right? I forget who the forum member was that forgot. The plugs became fused with the housings and he had to rebuild the motor....

rynburg, no... i didn't do that... i didn't know that it was such an important thing to do, but like gargamel said, many people on this forum that i've read of, never say anything about that so i assume they've not done it either, however, i might have to now that i'm paranoid.

for the record, its not the plugs i was prowd of... i know that's not really a big deal, it was taking off the UIM and the Throttle body (and a few other things) to replace the wires that i was REALLY worried about screwing up since i've NEVER done anything on a car engine before.

Before you forget, take clayne's advice and replace the 1.3 bar radiator cap with the updated 0.9 bar cap, otherwise you run the risk of blowing a coolant hose somewhere and quite possibly starting a fire....not a good thing.

Good job Rich! Now you can help me when I need them I can do other ****, but have never done plugs in my life and the FDs were done when I had some other general maintenance done.

Not sure if you saw it but my car is back from Dee's, now your big brother is back in the apt. complex

Obviously you forum peeps don't know it, but I got my MB FD last March. Well, a month or so ago I notice another MB FD right around the corner of my building, I thought it was someone's g/f or b/f always visiting. Then, one day I am walking my dog and I see pugg57 wiping it down and I go meet him. First thing out of his mouth is "Hey man, I don't want you to think I am copying you" hahahaha. Very small world. There are possibly 10 FDs up in the northern country of Maryland (and that's a high guess probably), and there are 3 of us here in the complex with them...myself, pugg57, and Buzzfish, go figure. Then ErnieT lives around the corner from us.
