Question cold start, popping, high-idle and coughing help!

94 R-2 recently pops, coughs when starting up. Had fuel filter done last year, could it be injectors?

Any help appreciated.

It will idle high also now at 11-1200 rpm around town instead of 700 rpm!

I'm thinking fuel related somehow, a line???

You are probably getting too much air from somewhere. You probably have had a seal failure somewhere along the intake manifold. It is also possible that you are getting an air leak thru your air pump. You will need to go to a deal to have the air pump leak diagnosed. If it is the air pump, it will mean replacing or rebuilding the air pump.

It could be a failed/failing fuel pressure regulator as well. I had similar symptoms, also accompanied by difficult hot starting. It quickly developed to the point where I had to hold the throttle fully open to hot-start the car.

You can run a search with my username and "fpr" for more details.
