Check your steering rack mount bolts

The FD steering rack is clamped into place with 2 metal straps and 4 mounting bolts through the engine cradle. I had a bolt loosen and fall out somehow last year and I wrote it off as a freak occurance. But it's happened to someone else now.

Next time you're under the car just make certain they are tight. I added locknuts to all of mine.

That would just be scary...

I've never taken a look at my steering rack, do you have any pics of what to look for when under there?

The belly pan has to be off and the front raised in the air. When you look at the engine cradle you'll see that there are two bolts at each end of the steering rack. In the pic they show as pairs of bolt holes at the front of the sub frame. The bolt heads are at the bottom and extend up through the frame and into the steering rack mounts.
