Charging harness part number
My charging harness is cooked. The alternator clamp wiring actually melted and fused with the alternator bracket!
I was trying to find the part number in the parts diagram, but it seems like the charging harness is lumped into the part numbers associated with the main harness.
It's in section 6701 of the diagram, or at least that's where I think it is. It seems like the part number for the engine harness is N3A11805ZG. I tried the 6 variations at cheapmazdaparts.com, and they all seem to refer to the engine harness.
As an aside it looks like the gasket from the engine block to the exhaust manifold is over $100. Should I replace that when switching from twins to a single, or is it ok to reuse it? If I should replace it is the replacement gasket from Mazda the best (or only) choice?
Thanks.

I am aware of the existence of Ray at Malloy Mazda. However, I searched beforehand, and couldn't find it. So even if Ray can help me out in this particular case it would be nice to find the part number for that harness. I am sure I am not the only FD member who is going to need to replace it.
Anyone know the part number? If you don't want to do it for me, do it for posterity!

According to the wiring diagram it is actually called the engine harness.
This should be the part you are looking for
See this thread.

You HAVE to replace the gaskets ONLY with Mazda gaskets.
they are the ONLY gaskets that can put up with the punishment, and the only ones made of nothing but steel.
dont buy the aftermarket crap.
they dont seal well, dont last long. some who have these "graphite" gaskets already found out they shouldnt have cheaped out on the exhaust gaskets and just bought mazda.
there are few times where you dont want to buy aftermarket replacement parts, and exhaust gaskets are one of them

Thanks Rxtacy. I can't believe that harness is $1000 as I remember it on sale for something in the $400 during one of ray's old specials. I really do appreciate your efforts for clarification. I know markup is ridiculous, but geez.
thanks for the clarification on the gaskets. Guess I will order both items.
