I have it and I really like it. Not only does it look good, its was pretty cheap and it sounds great. I had the Pettit 4" tip before and this sounds and looks MUCH better. Definitely worth the money.

It's no Racing Beat!

When I had mine, I had a midpipe/precat (don't ask, previous owner of the car <groan>) and that was an ear full on long trips (drone). From what I recall, it wasn't much better with the stock main cat back in there.

There is a place for a silencer akin to the Apexi GT-Spec, but on the GT, you lose flow by putting it in, and it makes the car sound a bit like the stock exhaust.

For reference, I've had:
Stock
n-tech
Blitz Nur Spec
Apexi GT
finally...I've settled on a Racing Beat Dual Tip....for now...

You should hear/ride in a car with the exhaust if you don't want to do what I've done above (expensive proposition, if you ask me....). Also, bring a dB meter with you. You only get one set of ears. I personally wouldn't be riding around in something that exceeds 95dB without a helmet + ear protection.

Regards,

so you're pretty strongly suggesting the Racing Beat dual tip? it sounds like it is a bit easier on the ears for long trips... but i really don't think the stock one drones at all... so i guess, if you think the Blitz sounds stock, then i'm good to go?!

NURSpec

I have the nurspec exhaust and it sounds great!!! I love it. I have a video of my car that I will download as soon as I find a link for my friend's camcorder to a computer. I drove it back from Missouri and it was not too loud at all. It was quite a long trip. I remember my ears were a itsy-bitsy bit soar, but that is also an 8 hour trip and I didn't have any jams except for the radio. But I love the sound of it and wouldn't ask for anything else. As far as performance wise, it is also great. I highly recommend!!! If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

It depends on what other exhaust mods you have done.
The stock exhaust is silent compared to just about anything. The RB is a nice compromise which lets the car breathe quite well, but has plenty of noise abatement (arguably, a little too much compared to the other exhausts). If you add a DP and then HFC/Midpipe, then things change quite a bit in terms of noise level.

If you search around, you probably will find other opinions on other catbacks, but I guess it all depends on your tolerance for noise.

I would go listen to a car in person before spending money on something I had to live with. It really depends on you, but for a street-driven car, I don't think I'd put anything but a RB on it if I wanted to retain my hearing when I was old...

Video clips/sound clips don't include the dB level unless you are very sophisticated in reproducing the exact volume that the sound clip was recorded at. An exhaust may have a nice note but can be unbearably loud.

I was worried about sound as well before i bought my nur spec.Rest assured everyone that says its loud is full of ****.Not loud at all man.Its louder than stock but quieter than most other cars with a aftermarket exhaust. Its deep and throatty.Best price on a ss unit by far and looks good and sounds good as well.Dont be scared off.Its an excelent unit in craftsmanship, bolts right up with no problems ,is much lighter than the stock unit by like half the weight and comes with a new exhaust gasket as well.Cant beat that.Im absolutely satisfied with it.Im glad I formed my own opinion instead of not buying it because of others comments.

Loudness perceived by a person is NOT the same as loudness measured and what you will be subjected to.

If an individual has lost part of their hearing, then they will most likely not be able to tell the difference between a loud exhaust and a quieter exhaust.

That was the case between myself and a friend who works near airplanes. My exhausts prior to the RB were "fine" and "not loud" to him but were too loud for me.

A decibel meter is what determines how loud and exhaust is and not another human being.

That is science and not opinion.

As for the Blitz's quality of manufacture - yes, it is there, but can you tolerate the dB's that it puts out? That is something that you will have to decide for yourself, and you should be wary of what other people say. That is why you should experience it for yourself (if you care about maintaining your hearing).

Hmmm.Well if youre trying to discount my opinion based on the fact that you think im deaf youre out of your friggin mind.
I dont listen to loud music like some people.I dont have hearing loss.I wouldnt even lable the exhaust loud.Cause its actually pretty quiet.Under full throttle it gets a little loud but no where near as bad as any other exhaust ive ever heard. And that also includes listening to it while a friend drives the car.The car isnt very loud at all.
Even when driving the exhaust is fairly quiet at times.Which is nice when you want to be able to think and not hear this obnoxious dronning or high pitched noise.Theres none of that.Dont let people scare you off man.Its a great exhaust and if I had to do it all over again I wouldnt hesitate to buy it again.
Seems to me like the people who complain about the noise may own shops and are trying to upsell more expensive exhausts. When blitz has every other competitor beat on the catback department.

You need to read his post a bit more carefully. He's not saying you're deaf, he's saying that everyone's opinion on the sound level of each catback is different, so you can't depend on other's opinions as to which CB is "loud" or not. However, a decibel meter is hard evidence, not opinion. If it says that something is loud, well, you can't really argue with that.
Hell, I wish I owned a shop; then I wouldn't have to crawling on my back all the time to work on my car, I'd have more room to work, and I'd have pneumatic tools on hand.
You need to ride in someone's car with an exhaust for any real possibility of determining how "loud" it is.

I'm saying that my opinion and your opinion are just that. Opinions. Facts don't lie. One fact is what the buyer thinks of it because they are the one that will have to live with it, not you or I. The other is a decibel meter, which has to do with what other exhaust components they have. Your opinion is based on your hearing perception and not the buyer's. Neither is mine, but I have ears on the sensitive side, so those who do, may want to consider that.

Denial...the first stage of...

loud.Cause its actually pretty quiet.Under full throttle it gets a little loud but no where near as bad as any other exhaust ive ever heard. And that also includes listening to it while a friend drives the car.The car isnt very loud at all.
Most exhausts are quiet with a stock pre-cat and maincat...a straight pipe on a Super Stock FD is streetable...

And you are trying to upsell the Blitz...

I am trying to upsell buyer awareness and sound purchasing practices, which, for most things, includes ignoring this forum.

Yup. Ignore it. Your car, your choice, but do your homework, not listen to what someone else says.

By the way, most statisticians would have a field day with someone trying to make a decision on the opinions contained solely by this thread. Quite biased. I have some bias, but I am trying to explain how the buyer can sift through bias and make a good decision for themselves.

I don't own a shop. I know of several FD's in my area that are ditching other exhausts for the RB, one of which is the PFS (which I would classify is quieter than the Blitz) for a RB Dual Tip.

Two words:
Caveat emptor. Be informed. I am telling you to check things out in person, including my opinions.

I went through 4 and it cost me money for that experience, when I wish I had just waited and listened around and bought the right one the first time around that offered what I felt was a reasonable compromise on power for decibel level.

May my opinions and hints to seek facts fall upon deaf ears.

Regards,

i would say the blitz nur spec. is one the most loud exhausts out there with a midpipe and downpipe,i am currently running a n1 duel and the blitz is very close if not equal in sound ....dude if you want quiet get a racing beat if you want loud get the blitz that simple.

I have it and love, I also have a quicktime video that I can email you, if you would like. The quality of the vid isn't great, and you *get* to hear my car backfire, but I'll send it if you want. I also have some pics I can send you. Let me know. Josh

I dunno.Im not trying to sell anything.I am just a satisfied customer.and I still dont agree with people that say its a loud exhaust. Its not quiet and its not loud either. But thats my opinion and I will state it.To me its a no brainer.Cheapest exhaust stainless steel and great performance gains. And to me its not loud so I guess im happy with my buy.I was in th every same situatio a while back and everyone swore up and down that the exhaust was insanelly loud.Guess what? I bought the damn thing anyways and it turned out to be perfect. Not loud obnoxiously loud at all.Thanx to talljosh for sending me the vid.It sounds ten times better in person.Thanx Josh.
