Back from the paint shop...

Dropped it of on 1/07/04. Picked it up 3/23/04. Put up with a bunch off rude and unproffesional treatment from the guy but I think it was all worth it....

I still have alot of work to do on it, including adjusting the coilovers down. In fact I am taking of the next 2 days to work on it.

Looks like it was worth the wait.

The rims are SSR Intergals - 17 x 9.5/8.5 with 42/35 offsets

1800 labor plus materials. Ended up being $2300 total. All the fiberglass parts I had were low quality (ie required alot of work) and the car was badly abused before I got it so there was a ton of prep work. It is a whole different car now. I thought I got alot of attention before but now...

My favorite thing that happened was I went into Advanced Auto and when I came out there was a crowd of random (unrelated) people around it. One guy says "What kind of car is that?" and then one of two Advance Auto employees said "Yeah we were wondering that too..."

Shawn

Cant wait to get started on it tomorrow - in fact I need to go to bed right now so I can get up bright and early!

I had a very similar experience with mine when I had it painted. The guy was pretty much the biggest scum bag on earth. Took him 2 months...he promised me 1 week. I was like "listen I've had cars painted before and I know they are never done when estimated, its OK to be honest. I have another car." He goes "NO, not me! It will be done in 1 week!" Then he started charging me extra for door jams and under the hatch, when that was already agreed to be included. I have lost all faith in paint/body guys. Fortunately I was happy with the results as you are with yours. Your car looks nice. Very similar to mine too, same color, hood, spoiler, IC, and similar bumper. Is there any covers on those headlights? looks like rotaryextremes w/o lenses.

I havent made the covers yet though I have some 1/16" lexan in the garage ready for the project. My lights were a complete DIY except for the buckets - everything else was custom made / purchased separately. I was waiting on final fit before doing them and now I have a bunch of other stuff piled up to go on the car.

Waiting to be installed:

Keith's Differential Brace
B&M short shifter
Engine Torque Brace
Unorthodox Alternator and Water pump pullies
Dimpled/slotted rear rotors
Rear Hawk HPS pads
Reinstall of fuel system - 4th time
PFC Commander Mount
Rear Wheel bearings
Astray Armrest
Front tower Strut Bar
DIY Engine mounts
Emergency Brake Assembly
Drivers Side Window seal
Blitz power meter ID

I am working on it today so hopefully I can knock some of this stuff out.

yeah...i wish i can get my car painted for $2300. =(

they wanted something around the range of $3500 to get my car painted. I guess it was because I was going from red to blank but still.
